OTHER FEATURES OF THE GATEWAYS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
APPOINTMENT - If selected, your appointment may not exceed a total of 120 days after completing educational requirements. Participation in this program may be terminated at any time.
AGREEMENT: All participants must sign a written Gateways Internship Agreement with their manager that clearly identifies expectations of the appointment such as duties, length of appointment, work schedule, training, mentorship etc.
CONVERSION: Although not guaranteed, an intern may be converted from the Internship Program to a permanent appointment without further competition in accordance with established policy. Conversion must occur within 120 days after successful completion of the educational program (awarding of diploma, certificate, or degree), completion of a minimum of 640 hours of career-related work experience, required training, mentorship, and other requirements in accordance with the intern’s participant agreement. Additionally, the intern must meet qualification requirements and any other position requirements associated with the position to which converted. The intern must be converted to an occupation related to his/her academic training and career-related work experience as outlined in their participant agreement.
QUALIFICATIONS
FV-B: To qualify for the FV-B, you must be accepted to or currently enrolled in an accredited educational institution (college, university, vocational school, trade school, etc.). Full or half time enrollment is defined by your educational institution.
Degree Requirement: course of study leading to a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Audiovisual Production.
his occupation has specific educational requirements for entry and applicants must show evidence that their planned academic program will meet those requirements (i.e. transcript reflecting enrollment in applicable programs). Students who graduate without meeting those requirements may not be converted to the target position and could be separated from federal service. Educational Requirements for conversion to the target position are:you must be enrolled in an accredited college or university in a program leading to a bachelor’s degree or higher in a Major study - photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position; advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis.

Responsibilities:
DUTIES
The position will involve periods of pertinent formal education and periods of employment within the organization. The goal is for the Student Trainee to become familiar with work in support of Information and Arts occupations, programs, projects and functions of the assigned organization.
The Student Trainee will perform basic tasks under the close direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader or more experienced employee and assist the manager and other employees in day-to-day operations.
The student will work with professionals in the Audio-Visual area and will assist more senior members of the team to direct and edit video and audiovisual programs of a technical nature through audio video production including photography, audio and television visual aids.
Assists the Visual Production Specialist in the selection of visual materials as directed and under the direction of a team member, participate in technical team planning of a project and program support for video and visual instrumentation activities; and operate various video and photographic cameras, recorders, editors and associated equipment to capture test activities.
Applies basic knowledge and minimal experience in performing tasks. Regularly coordinates with a manager or other more experienced employee to plan time, prioritize assignments and use assigned resources to accomplish tasks.
Contacts are primarily internal to the organizational unit, with a manager, project/program manager, team leader or more experienced employee to share basic Information and to receive guidance. In some areas, may have limited contact with external customers.
Established policies/procedures provide guidance for most assignments, but allow some discretion for employee to select the most appropriate approach(es). Typically receives guidance on selecting approaches from a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional. Refers problems and work issues to a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced employee for guidance.
In addition, depending on the ANG organization assigned, the student may perform other related duties.
