POSITION SUMMARY
An Impact & Evaluation (I&E) Data Analyst collects, catalogs, and manages data to understand College Advising Corps’ (CAC) impact on high school students’ postsecondary plans. Analysts collaborate with other I&E team members to ensure the reliability and validity of historical data and the integrity of on-going data collection projects. They also clean and merge data files and create cross-sectional and longitudinal files. Additional responsibilities include responding to ad-hoc requests for assistance from other teams within the organization and helping staff to improve their data management practices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY
Assess the validity and availability of historical data files and perform quality checks on datasets to ensure accuracy and maximum retention of valid data.
Efficiently and accurately create unique cross-sectional and longitudinal datasets by merging internal and external datasets.
Create descriptive reports (e.g. frequencies, percentages, means, changes in trends over time), visual products, and contribute to the analyses of CAC impact.
Create and maintain dashboards to monitor KPI performance and report on impact measuresMaintain a working knowledge of CAC National data systems and warehouses, KPIs, and other impact metrics such as post-secondary enrollment.
Document workflow processes and promote data literacy within the organization.

A successful I&E Data Analyst is a results-driven individual that has at least two years of prior experience conducting applied research and/or designing and executing evaluations, or has earned an advanced degree paired with some prior experience conducting applied research and/or designing and executing evaluations. The ideal candidate also:
Has an analytic orientation and understands best practices for data management
Understands how measurement affects data reliability and validity
Able to synthesize large amounts and/or different types of data
- Possesses strong technical skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel (e.g. VLOOKUP, pivot tables, conditional formatting), computer programming languages, such as Python or R and/or statistical software, such as Stata or SPSS
- Experience with data visualization techniques and Tableau Desktop/Cloud
Is attentive to detail and committed to accuracy
Preferred, but not required, experience for the I&E Data Analyst includes:
Researching and working with state data systems
Prior use of public educational data, such as IPEDS, NCES or NSC
Creating and/or analyzing surveys via Survey Monkey
- Familiarity or prior experience working with college access and success organizations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Ability and willingness to travel.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
