Ohio MHAS Information Services is the technology arm of the third largest cabinet level agency in the state of Ohio. We support more than 3,200 employees within six regional inpatient behavioral health hospitals, Ohio Pharmacy Services, and Central Office. We develop and support technology for several critical business solutions used by the agency as well as by county and local behavioral health care providers across the state.
Role Overview:
A day in the life of an Ohio MHAS Senior Network Engineer offers many opportunities to impact family, friends, and the citizens of the State of Ohio. We are a close-knit IT community and develop applications to allow mental health and addiction providers to serve our citizens in need. Our infrastructure team provides secure connectivity and the tools needed (laptops, tablets, cell phones, etc.) by our frontline workers to respond to those in crisis as well as those needing continuity of care.
In your day in the life as a Senior Network Engineer, you could be involved in the following:
- Define technical direction and roadmap for Network standardization as well as manage the implementation and technical solutions.
- Design and develop solutions as well as support a diverse environment that includes but not limited to Cisco switches/routers, Aruba Wi-Fi, Vocera badges, Juniper firewall, VOIP, etc.
- Collaborate with other agencies for solutions that can be leveraged by using like technologies.
- Troubleshoot and recommend solutions for Network standards across 7 remote sites as well as central office.
- Lead a motivated team to the future of Network security (Network segmentation, monitoring, etc.).
- Ability to develop complex analysis and then present it in a concise, impactful way to senior leadership.
- Must be detail-oriented with the ability to communicate and write effectively.
- Some minor support for end user devices (cell phones, laptops, mobile devices, etc.)
- Working in Azure environment to support anything related to infrastructure.
- Vendor interactions for connectivity (Epic, third party, etc.)

What you will do...
Collaborate with our business partners and project management team to understand requirements.
Investigate production, design problems and propose optimized solutions.
Participate in providing work estimation for project scope.
Adhere to Ohio MHAS best practices of architecture, design, implementation, and security standards.

Completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; and 36 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: evaluating current it policies, procedures and practices, recommending and/or leading IT driven change efforts, participating and/or leading activities to achieve project tasks/meet deadlines, and performing solutions design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.
Or completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems; and 42 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: evaluating current IT policies, procedures and practices, recommending and/or leading IT driven change efforts, participating and/or leading activities to achieve project tasks/meet deadlines, and performing solutions design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.
Or 60 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: evaluating current IT policies, procedures and practices, recommending and/or leading IT driven change efforts, participating and/or leading activities to achieve project tasks/meet deadlines, and performing solutions design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.
-Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
