Job Summary
This position will directly support the enterprise network environment.
Part of a larger team delivering high quality Computer, Network, Storage and End-User Infrastructure technology solutions, on-going support to the business. Independently completes infrastructure project assignments. Plan, research, evaluate, design, and engineer the enterprise's technology infrastructure. Provide technical support and troubleshooting, cost estimates, justifications, and recommendations. Produces technical documentation, support and configuration. Manage, plan, and maintain technical platforms including upgrading systems. Monitor system performance and installs and configures hardware.
Responsible for collaborating with other Job Families such as Project Managers, Architects, Solution Engineers, Technicians, Business Analysts to deliver consistent, reliable technology solutions that leverage AEP's technology standards, architectures and best practices.
Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
Working independently, responsibilities include the following related to Computer, Network, Storage, Cloud and End-User infrastructure:
  • Participates in the installation, configuration, and performance analysis of enterprise networks with a primary focus on network routing and switching.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide 24x7 support.
  • Provides advanced technical support and analysis, operation, administration, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Adhere and advocate change management policies, incident management and trouble response scenarios.
  • Prepare cost estimates, justifications, application requirements, alternative solutions, and technical recommendations.
  • Lead, facilitate, and coordinate work activities of others within the work group, team, or department.
  • Prepare technical documentation including procedures, manuals, reports, and standards.
  • Review and adhere to budgeting and approval processes while partaking in annual and project planning.
  • May provide training and mentoring, as well as work direction, to others on the team.

Minimum Requirements:
NOTE: This position will be filled at the experience and salary grade level commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate as compared to the minimum requirements stated below. The selected candidate for this position will work remotely and, though location is flexible, will require vetting and final approval prior to offer and/or start.
Infrastructure Engineer Sr (SG7):
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.
Experience: 5 years of relevant work experience is required.
An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
Infrastructure Engineer Prin (SG 8):
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.
Experience: 7 years of relevant work experience is required.
An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
Physical demand level is Sedentary
Preferred Requirements
Skills/Knowledge:
  • Advanced understanding of network communications technologies and demonstrate the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, coordinate and resolve complex network issues and projects.
  • Experience with Arista switches including CVP, Cisco routers and switches (Nexus), network monitoring and management platforms including Solarwinds NCM, Cisco DNA, Wireshark packet analysis, Python scripting and automation, and dynamic routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Five years in direct support of Network Operations in a large enterprise environment, preferably within the utility or energy sector.
  • ServiceNow or similar ITIL experience is a plus.

Licenses/Certifications:
  • Cisco CCNA or similar professional-level certifications.

Education:
  • 4-year degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Networking, or equivalent experience.

Infrastructure Engineer Sr (SG7): $81,777-$102,224
Infrastructure Engineer Prin (SG8): $92,377-$120,089

$83,413.00-104,267.50 USD
Candidates will be considered based on their qualifications and the candidate's ability to work from an approved work location. AEP will consider qualified candidates who are willing to relocate to an approved work location, at the candidate's expense, provided the relocation can be completed within a timeframe that meets AEP's staffing needs.
