THIS POSITION IS NOT REMOTE.Qualifications: For GS-11 consideration, one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-09) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as applying the concepts, regulations, laws and policies in the administration of EMPLOYEE BENEFITS or employee retirement programs. Work must have included providing employee benefit program consultation to customers in one of the following areas: employee health benefits, retirement or life insurance, or workers compensation; and applying analysis and research skills in analyzing individualized customer cases to resolve complex benefits issues.
For GS-12 consideration, one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-11 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized Experience is defined as providing advisory services and applying the concepts, practices, principles, policies, laws, executive orders, and regulations in the administration of EMPLOYEE BENEFITS programs. Work must have included providing benefit program consultation and training to customers in at least two of the following areas: employee health benefits, retirement, or workers compensation; and investigating complex issues and analyzing applicable law, regulation, policy and case law in providing recommendations and guidance to customers.
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. For GS-11 consideration, applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-09 or higher grade in Federal Service. For GS-12 consideration, applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher grade in Federal ServiceEducation: GS-11 Substitution of Education for Experience: Three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed higher-level graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. If you are using education to substitute for the specialized experience, you must submit transcripts at the time you apply. To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (http://www2.ed.gov/admins/finaid/accred/index.html).
