This position supports a Union Benefits Office. The objective is to administer health and pension benefits for a union construction trade in a fast-paced office in Maplewood MN.

This position is fully in office.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Analyze, communicate, and process union employee health and pensions benefits.

· Interpret and administer written materials including plan documents, correspondence, and legal documents. Followed by professional, tactful, and clear communication with plan participants and professionals.

· Explain complex benefit plans to participants in high volume phone calls, correspondence, and in-person meetings. Strong written and oral communication skills needed to support this duty.

· Prepare and interpret reports, draft letters, accounting, perform clerical duties such as data entry, mail distribution, scanning, faxing, copying, and filing.

· Database maintenance and management.

· Implement daily, weekly, monthly, and annual processes to optimize benefits administration.

· Professionalism with a high regard for customer service.

· Possess empathy, judgement, and discretion in difficult and confidential participant situations.

· Dependability and adaptability with excellent time management skills in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

· Ability to comprehend, administer, and communicate written and oral information.

· Proficient computer skills in the following programs: Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, and Outlook.

· Working knowledge of database management, basic accounting principles, and internet-based systems with initiative to learn new technical skills.

· Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness using initiative and self-reliant attitude.

· Team player with a positive attitude and passion for collaboration.

This Union position as a Benefits Specialist is in-office and full-time at 40 hours per week. The position requires commitment to the hours of 8:00 am – 4:30 pm CST.

This position is compensated at an hourly rate of $26.00 with annual collective bargaining increases.

Important note that benefits add an average value of an additional $23 per hour which allows the hourly rate of pay to be income without reduction for health insurance or pensions.

Successful hiring of this position is contingent upon passing a criminal background check.
