The Human Resources (HR) Generalist will be responsible for supporting and managing the day-to-day human resources operations and business objectives of the Firm along with specific support to the Metairie office. The Human Resources Generalist will manage the administration and coordination of human resources policies, procedures, and programs and services. The HR Generalist may provide management guidance to identified employees. This position also carries out responsibilities in a variety of functional areas such as benefits management, employee relations and performance management, compensation, recruiting and staffing, when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management or related field is preferred; Coursework or degree in Human Resources is preferred.
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a variety of human resources functions is required.
- Working knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines, such as recruiting (college recruiting) and compensation practices, applicant tracking systems, Human Resources Information System (HRIS) programs, employee relations, performance management, and federal and state employment laws, along with a variety of employee benefit administration and contract language is required.
- Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements both adopted and pending such as Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), American's with Disabilities Act (ADA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Section 125 Cafeteria plan, Workers' Compensation, Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA), Social Security, and Department of Labor requirements.
- Working knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce systems is a plus.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and project management skill capabilities.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills in business and technical environment and within a diverse group of individuals.
- Must demonstrate ability to work effectively independently and within a team structure.
- Able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, innovative, and continuously changing environment.
- Ability to perform effectively, efficiently and with quality under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Must possess a high degree of professionalism including the ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interprets, executes and participates as a strategic HR team member and assists in executing HR activities; supports human resources programs by providing a variety of professional services to include recruiting and staffing, new hire orientation, employee relations and performance management, retention efforts, and completes employee transactions, safety and wellness activities and procedures, maintains HR technology systems with accurate and timely information.
- Collects and analyzes data and makes recommendations for change, if needed.
- Coordinates the day-to-day human resources operational administration of all employment based activity.
- Participates in regulatory and compliance data collection, analysis and reporting. Ensures timely, quality and accurate data.
- Streamlines business processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness within the department.
- Acts as liaison with employment agencies and all other recruitment sources
- Assists in administering human resources programs by providing human resources services that include recruiting and staffing, new hire orientation, employee relations and retention and completing employee transactions.
- Identifying and clarifying employee/employer problems or issues; evaluating potential solutions; coaching and counseling managers and employees.
- Completes special projects which may include conducting research and presenting recommendations for implementation consideration.
- May create, deliver and support HR related training activities.
- Stays abreast of local, state and federal employment laws including, but not limited to: FMLA, ADA, minimum wage, FLSA, and various discrimination laws.
- Maintains a variety of human resources records including but not limited to employee personnel and benefit files.
- Performs input into company HRIS and recruiting systems as needed.
- May participate in recruiting activities as needed.
- Documents procedures performed, findings or other issues, draft/compile reports and correspondence.
- Communicates with supervisor any obstacles or items of concern.
- Complies with the professional and Firm requirements (e.g., employee handbook, time entry procedures), quality control document requirement, confidentiality requirements related to client, proposal, personnel, and job related information.
Other Duties:
- Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external parties. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional and cooperative manner.
- Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance (e.g., procedure optimization). Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
- Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Actively supports teamwork throughout the organization.
- Performs other services as assigned.
Other Considerations:
- May periodically travel and work from different company locations.
- May be required to work extended/overtime hours during workweek and/or on weekends as needed.
