SummaryUnder the direction of the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Generalist I is responsible for creating and maintaining a positive employee experience for the employees at City Park. The Human Resources Generalist I administers employee benefits and also provides support to the day-to-day administrative tasks in the Human Resources Department, which includes helping employees with general questions through resolution, enforcing Human Resources policies and procedures, employee engagement, and the onboarding/offboarding checklists. The Human Resources Generalist I may also back-up support for the Human Resources Generalist II in the areas of recruitment or new employee orientation, and employee training. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Administrative Support
  • Employee file management – Assists with creating and/or maintaining employee files, I-9 binders, and work certificates, auditing for accuracy and compliance. Transfers inactive employee files to the terminated storage area.
  • Updates personal employee information in the HRIS and other systems as needed.
  • Updates and maintains the employee directory and phone list.
  • Updates and maintains the organizational chart.
  • Reviews compliance for mandatory training and continuing education. Runs reports for management.
  • Assists third party inquiries for verifications of employment.
  • Documents and forwards phone messages, visitor messages, and emails as needed.
  • Navigates employee requests as quickly and efficiently as possible until resolution. Reaches out for direction as needed.
  • Other Human Resources administrative projects as assigned.

Employee Onboarding

  • Discusses employee benefits in new hire orientations.
  • Distributes and tracks uniforms per policy and in conjunction with the HR Generalist II.
  • Distributes employee name tags and business cards as needed.
  • Sends new employee (management) information to marketing for the website.

Benefits Administration

  • Collaborates with the Human Resources Generalist II in the processing of new hires into City Park’s internal and external benefits systems – Membership, EASE, and Empower.
  • Administers new employee benefits and initializes automated benefits systems. Sends EASE log ins to eligible employees.
  • Ensures that employees receive all available benefits information in a timely manner.
  • Monitors EASE enrollments and confirms elections or waivers have been completed according to deadline.
  • Enters employer matching amounts into the employee’s pay profile in the payroll system.
  • Initializes and participates in annual medical benefits open enrollment meetings and deadlines Contacts employees whose enrollments or waivers have not been completed before the deadline.
  • Verifies payroll deduction transfers from Ease to ADP.
  • Enters new employees into third-party COBRA site and generates initial COBRA notices.
  • Communicates employee benefits issues with the insurance broker.
  • Assigns Paid Time Off and Floating Holiday policies to new employees in ADP. May assign other policies, such as bereavement, as needed.
  • Updates pay rates in Ease as needed.
  • Troubleshoots benefits systems problems.

Employee Offboarding

  • Receives employee property as required – keys, fab, name tag(s), uniforms, computers, and other property.
  • Submits the IT User Change Request termination form.
  • Notifies maintenance of termination date to inactivate door code.
  • Notifies marketing to remove exiting employee from website (where applicable).
  • Removes the employee from all software programs, including training sites, Onsolve, the CPC website, and the directory.
  • Enters the employee into the third-party COBRA management system (if enrolled in full time medical benefits).
  • Completes the employee termination checklist and LWC-77 according to policy and revised statute.
  • Handles mail correspondence to the exiting employee.

Employee Engagement

  • Collaborates with the Human Resources team and other departments in the planning and execution of employee parties and events. Creates and distributes fliers. Helps set up and break down tables and chairs if needed. Represents the department at parties and events.
  • Creates, edits, and distributes the quarterly employee newsletter.
  • Sends monthly birthday list to IT for Intranet posting.
  • Mails birthday cards to employees.

General Duties

  • Ensures legal compliance of Human Resources state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws.
  • Assists in the interpretation of the employee and benefits handbooks.
  • Communicates effectively and timely with all employees.
  • Suggests new procedures and policies to continually improve the efficiency of the Human Resources department and organization.
  • Participates in departmental and company meetings as directed.
Qualifications and Skills
  • High School diploma or GED (General Educational Development) required, with at least one year of experience in Human Resources and working towards a similar degree, including benefits administration. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver's license (excludes corrective lenses).
  • Human Resources certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources federal laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, writing skills, interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with an ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate company and employee needs.
  • Ability to remain calm and respectful in stressful situations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Advanced computer skills for data entry.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The position may occasionally require you to work weekends as a regular part of the job. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to accommodate employees. Ability to travel within the park when needed.


Working Conditions

Work frequently takes place indoors, sitting or standing most of the time and occasionally walking. Occasional work outdoors at employee events or other events; occasional exposure to weather, including humidity, rain, wind, heat or cold. The noise level in the indoor work environment is usually quiet and the outdoor environment varies from quiet to loud.
