Position Title: Human Resources Generalist
Reports To: Chief Operations Officer
Scope: This position will be responsible for Human Resource administration of employee policy implementation, assisting in recruitment and all human resource functions.Candidates must possess the ability to multiple task and meet daily deadlines to be successful in this position. The ideal candidate will have effective interpersonal and organizational skills, strong work ethic, positive attitude and be team-oriented as well as possess the ability to manage a large workload in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
Essential Duties:
- Ability to establish relationships with operational leaders through regular meetings, visits, and other effective communication options.
- Provides support in recruiting and evaluating job candidates for all exempt positions.
- Communicates and ensures completion of New Hire Checklist, which outlines employment requirements and employee pre-employment physical/drug screening.
- Conducts onboarding and new hire orientation and ensures proper completion of required new hire paperwork.
- Communicates important company information and expectations to new employees.
- Coordinates the entry of new hires into Company Payroll system.
- Builds relationships with staff at all levels; assures that new employees integrate effectively into the organization.
- Coordinates 90-day reviews for all new hires.
- Creates new hire employment files.
- Implements employee recognition programs.
- Updates the New Hire Orientation Presentation with any changes to policies/procedures and industry regulations.
- Act as a point of contact for operational leaders on non-administrative HR issues.
- Providing information and analysis to operations leaders to make staffing decisions.
- Providing high value-added HR expertise, coaching advice and execution of support to operational leaders.
- Avoids legal challenges by understanding current legislation; enforcing regulations with managers; recommending new procedures; conducting training.
- Assist or lead the communication of employee disciplinary situations, including terminations.
- Builds and maintains relationship's with local employment support services (MIWorks SE, Lenawee Now)
- Assist payroll department by providing relevant employee information (FMLA, leave of absences, etc)
- Performs all other duties as assigned
- Assume authority and responsibility of Human Resources Manager to provide coverage in the event of Human Resources Manager's absence.
