Summary/Objective:
The human resource generalist is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the Human Resources function.
Essential Functions:
  • Maintains employee records in accordance with applicable law.
  • Periodically reviews and makes recommendations to executive management for improvement of the hospital’s policies, procedures, and practices on personnel matters.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures compliance.
  • Maintains responsibility for compliance with federal and state legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
  • Communicates changes in personnel policies and procedures and ensures proper compliance is followed.
  • Assists executive management in the review, preparation, and administration of fair wage and salary awards.
  • Coordinates or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation.
  • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the administrator, on personnel matters.
  • Works directly with department directors to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
  • Recommends, evaluates, and participates in staff development for the agency.
  • Develops and maintains a human resource system that meets agency personnel information needs.
  • Participates on committees and special projects, as needed, and attends to all other duties, as assigned.

This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work.
Travel:
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent or 2 to 4 years’ related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:N/A
SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification.
