Job description

The Human Resources role serves as a dedicated resource for their assigned business unit for employee relations, hiring and interviewing staff, enforcing company policies and practices, compensation, benefits, training, and employee records. This position partners with operations advising regarding best practices for compliance with federal and state laws and as a federal contractor.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Full cycle recruiting. Write job descriptions, build rapport with hiring managers, conduct intake sessions, clarify business and needs for each role based on requirements.
  • Serve as recruiting consultant for hiring managers, modifying recruiting strategy timely.
  • Provide standardized recruitment tools hiring managers and train them on ATS as needed.
  • Provide consistent, welcoming candidate care experience, from initial contact through offer.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • HR consultant and liaison for Safety Team.
  • Tracks and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in Human Resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong demonstrated knowledge all functional areas of HR (recruiting, employee relations, risk management, compensation, classification, benefits, training, performance management, etc.)
  • Strong ability to guide leaders through a variety of complex, challenging situations with diplomacy.
  • Strong demonstrated knowledge of federal contractor compliance as related to all areas of Human Resources.
  • Strong ability to create and adjust recruitment strategies to attract critical talent.
  • Strong demonstrated knowledge of ADP WFN HR and Recruitment module.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others, build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to accomplish business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to assume personal accountability, exhibit honesty and respect towards others.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, assess business needs and use problem solving skills to address challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve and actively contribute as an active team member on immediate team and larger organization. Ability to support the team without necessarily taking the lead.
  • Ability to understand and analyze underlying organizational issues.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient with ADP and Microsoft Office Suite software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 4-7 years’ experience working as a Human Resources Generalist managing full spectrum of personnel actions across all areas of HR.
  • 3 years’ experience minimum working in an HR Generalist capacity for a federal contractor.
  • 4-7 years’ experience applying federal and state employment law to diverse situations.
  • 4-7 years broad employee relations experience (managing cases start to finish).
  • PHR (Professional in Human Resources) or SPHR (Senior PHR) a plus.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
