Job Description
CHEMetrics, LLC located in Midland, VA – a subsidiary of AquaPhoenix Scientific – has an immediate opening for a Human Resources Generalist. The HR Generalist plays a critical role in leading and participating in the day-to-day department activities while remaining focused on strategic Company objectives. This is an on-site position as the successful candidate will serve as the primary HR representative for our Midland, VA team.
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the ideal candidate must have the skills and temperament to support all aspects of numerous human resource functions including talent management and recruiting, employee relations, leadership coaching, benefit administration, compensation analysis, leave administration, and company communications/events. Basic knowledge/experience with mergers and acquisitions is helpful but not required.
Essential Responsibilities and Expectations:
Although not all inclusive, additional responsibilities, expectations, and skills will include:
- Provide day-to-day support for everything related to employee/people management.
- Provide personnel policy and procedure guidance to employees and management.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law and compliance requirements and apply as appropriate.
- Accurately update and maintain the integrity of the data in the HRIS system.
- Process new hires, employee changes, terminations, wage changes, etc., in the HRIS system.
- Provide general training/guidance to employees and managers regarding access and basic functions in the HRIS system.
- Assist with review of timecards, (following manager’s approval) to ensure accurate timekeeping for payroll purposes.
- Assist employees with the benefits enrollment process including open enrollment, new hire enrollment, family status changes, etc.
- Track, process, and assist employees requiring leave administration including FMLA, STD, and LTD.
- Collaborate and work closely with full HR team to support companywide HR initiatives.
- Accurately draft Company communications including memos, job postings, job descriptions and other employee focused communications.
- Administer the temporary employee program including supporting the transition to a successful full-time offer.
- Conduct and implement new hire orientation, training plans, and processing onboarding documents.
- Assist in employee coaching, performance appraisal process, and disciplinary progression.
- Participate in the development of Company policies and documentation.
- Actively participate in staff/management meetings and attend other meetings and seminars.
AquaPhoenix Scientific considers applicants with diverse backgrounds, education, and work experience; however, applicants for the Human Resources, Generalist position will frequently have a combined education and/or work experience that is a minimum of a high school diploma, plus a four-year degree in business, Human Resources, or similar field and 2-5+ years’ Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment.
Other qualifications and attributes include:
- Strong understanding of HR processes and best practices.
- Highly computer literate with capability with MS Office, HRIS and related business and communication tools.
- Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, make fair and ethical decisions, and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Detail oriented with strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced business environment.
- Capacity to complete assigned tasks successfully, on time, and accurately.
- Ability to travel infrequently via vehicle, air, and/or other modes of transportation.
- Valid US driver’s license.
