Ferguson is currently seeking the right individual to fill an immediate need for an HR Generalist. If you have a love of meeting people and providing great customer service coupled with an interest in contributing directly to the bottom line of a multi-billion-dollar organization, this is the position for you! This is a Hybrid role based out of Newport News, VA in accordance with the Ferguson Flex schedule; 3 days office / 2 days remote.

Areas of Impact:

Sets day-to-day objectives and deliver job responsibilities that are within typical norms or practices. Work independently and may be required to apply discretion within established operational boundaries and procedures.


Problem Solving:

Problems and issues faced often need analysis to understand. Checks and make minor adjustments to work methods to solve problems that may not be immediately evident in existing work processes and systems. However, may have references or help from norms and/or standard procedures to solve these problems (e.g. operating manuals, ability to discuss in teams, or escalate issues to manager).


Job Function and Responsibilities:

The Human Resources job family supports the management of the organization's associates and human resource programs. General areas of responsibility include administratively supporting human resource management strategies, programs, processes, and policies to meet business needs; administering and reviewing activities concerned with employment practices; data and records management.


  • Complete, check, and process HR-related forms and documents in accordance with established guidelines so that HR-related matters are administered quickly and accurately.
  • Data managed may include personal information; job history; retirement and insurance documentation; leave accrual records; and details of illness, absences, transfers, and salary progression.
  • Respond timely to inquiries from employees and managers regarding HR matters.
  • Perform other routine administrative activities according to the organization's established procedures.
  • Participate in associate meetings and communicates any concerns to management.
  • Deliver job responsibilities following a defined standard output or set of procedures while utilizing critical thinking.
  • Effectively maintain employee information that meets the organization's obligations and assist in human resource management by administering processes and analyses.
  • Handle HR-related inquiries. May compile statistics for management's use.
  • Maintain employee information.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of experience is preferred to perform at expectation.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to acquire knowledge rapidly and put it into practice.
  • Effectively communicate in writing and verbally.
  • Efficiently operate computers, tablets, and mobile devices.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.).
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

Pay Range:

$15.58 - $25.39

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.

This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
