About The Role:
Are you an HR professional with a passion for fostering an engaged and thriving workforce? Our team is seeking a HR Generalist to become a driving force behind our commitment to employee well-being and organizational success. As an HR Generalist, you'll wield your expertise across diverse HR functions, playing a pivotal role in Benefits Administration, Workers' Compensation management, Performance Management facilitation, Health & Safety compliance, and other critical HR tasks. Schedule: This is a part-time 24-30 hours per week schedule, reporting to our Hayward, CA office on a hybrid basis (3 days in office). This role has strong potential to become full time in 6 months to a year.
Responsibilities:
Benefits Administration
  • Evaluate and advise on medical, dental, vision, FSA, and 401k plans in collaboration with our broker, considering costs and benefits for both employees and the company.
  • Maintain accurate benefit plan information for internal and employee reference, managing carrier websites for access, changes, forms, and invoices.
  • Handle enrollments, updates, and required forms in carrier websites, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Oversee HRIS database management, updating carrier and plan details, maintaining eligibility, rules, and enrollments.
  • Coordinate new hire and open enrollment processes, organize and conduct open enrollment meetings, and handle ACA reporting.
  • Review benefit-related invoices, audit deductions on payroll, and collaborate with HRIS vendors for seamless data transmission.
  • Act as an employee advocate for claim or carrier-related issues, including COBRA administration.

Workers Compensation
  • Ensure compliance with workers' compensation laws and procedures, updating new hire packets for all states.
  • Manage claims process, gathering necessary information, entering claims, and meticulously documenting all case details.
  • Correspond with claims administrators and physicians, maintain comprehensive documentation in workers' compensation files.
  • Create and annually post OSHA logs, handling OSHA office communications and managing incident response accounts and forms.

Performance Management
  • Support HR Director in processing employee reviews, creating guidelines, and facilitating communication and training for employees and supervisors.
  • Develop and manage competencies by position, maintaining review cycles, tracking completion, and setting up notifications.

Health & Safety Management
  • Maintains strong knowledge of health and safety policies and location of resources
  • Be an active participant of our Corporate Safety Committee by reporting workplace incidents and contributing meeting topics
  • Attend weekly and monthly safety meetings and stay on top of action items assigned
  • Ensure company has one Health and Safety topic/training given each month
  • Manage safety data in Risk Management Software system
  • Provide safety data for client contracts.

Other HR Items
  • Maintain and update Employee Handbook.
  • Compliance
    • Maintain state and federal labor law posters by office up to date.
    • Keep up to date on ACA requirements.
    • Keep up to date on local and each state employment law policies and changes.
  • Document Control
    • Create HR policies and procedures.
    • Maintain filing system for confidential and non-confidential items.

Requirements:
  • 7 years of Human Resources experience with at least 4 of those years as a Generalist.
  • Experience using HR Information Systems with the ability to learn new programs quickly. Experience with Dayforce is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Professional, strong, and effective communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with a diverse staff.
  • Able to work with little direction; high initiative and organizational skills.
  • HR Certification is a plus.

Pay Range: $35-40 per hour
