Position Title:
HR Generalist/Talent Acquisition Coordinator
Position Location: Wingate Main Campus

Position Summary:
The HR Generalist/Talent Acquisition Coordinator role will support Wingate University’s faculty, staff, and student communities. The HR Generalist will focus their day-to-day priorities and responsibilities based on the needs of the faculty and staff. The HR Generalist will be responsible for a variety of HR functions, including talent management, training and development, employee engagement and performance, and compensation and benefits.

Duties and Responsibilities
:
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Collaborates with hiring managers and search committees to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria.
  • Identifies and implements efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the available role, industry standards, and the needs of the organization.
  • Assists with the interview process, attending and conducting interviews with hiring managers, search committees and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with the hiring manager and/or other human resource staff during the offer process, identifying and recommending salary ranges, incentives, start dates, and other pertinent details.
  • Prepare paperwork and schedules for smooth new-hire onboarding process, coordinating with cross-functional departments to deliver an exceptional first-day experience.
  • Handle administrative tasks for onboarding, new-hire orientations, and exit interviews, including data entry in Human Resources information systems (HRIS) and audits for accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide a dedicated and effective HR advisory service to employees that covers absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievances, organizational change, and all other employee-relations matters.
  • Be the primary backup for payroll processing, including biweekly and semimonthly updates to employee files, bonus/incentive pay, vacation/sick pay, expense reimbursements, hourly-employee validations, and benefits changes.
  • Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, and other HR policies and contribute to policy development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolutions skills
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Demonstrated customer-centric approach
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning/improvement in diversity, inclusion, and cultural competence.
  • Strong technical skills with a good knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook and previous experience of working with an HRIS is desirable.

Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years of Human Resources and/or talent acquisition management experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds
