Langley Federal Credit Union is currently hiring for a Full Time Human Resource Generalist to work from our City Center corporate office, located in Newport News, VA.
Job Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist Supports Langley's People Strategy by providing superior employee human resource service delivery to all employees. Coaches managers and employees in employment related situations. Assists as needed with processing payroll, benefits administration, managing employee documents, reporting, and regulatory requirements. Recommends activities and initiatives to enhance Langley culture through employee events. Partners with the Training and Development and Organizational Development departments to create an engaged workforce and great employee experience throughout the employment life cycle. Serves as a champion of the Langley culture and promotes a positive experience for Langley employees.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
• Ensures all human resource programs and actions follow organizational policies and relevant state and federal regulations (EEOC, FMLA, etc.).
• Serves as a key point of contact for employees and supervisors regarding leave requests, providing guidance on eligibility, documentation requirements, and facilitating effective communication.
• Responds to employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
• Collaborates with the external leave management vendor to ensure seamless administration of employee leave programs, including FMLA, ADA, and statutory leaves, maintaining accurate records and compliance.
• Participates in new hire orientation and ensures employees are well informed of human resource policies and benefits to enhance the employee experience.
• Coaches, counsels, and guides managers with respect to employee disciplinary actions, organizational changes, or other related issues.
• Conducts employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
• Assists in development and implementation of guidelines.
• Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
• Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in Human Resources, talent management, and employment law.
• Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.
• Assists with payroll and benefits administration as needed.
• Undertakes special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in business management, or another related field or an equivalent combination of education and working experience and training required.
• Minimum of two (2) years Human Resources experience including the processing of employee payrolls required.
• Intermediate skills in Excel required.
• SHRM CP/SCP or HRCI PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
• Experience in a Financial Institution preferred.
