Department IU HUMAN RESOURCES (UA-HUMM-IUBLA) Department Information IU Human Resources supports the broader Indiana University academic and research mission, through a wide variety of strategic and operational functions related to recruiting, retaining, and developing a diverse employee workforce. IU Human Resources provides university-wide services with the explicit recognition of the following customers: executives, managers, employees, and federal and state agencies. Services are intended to be provided in a partnership-environment; simultaneously accommodating fiscal realities and maintaining a commitment to quality, equity, and integrity.

Job Summary Department Specific Responsibilities Works as an embedded HR professional within IU Research to provide leadership, direction and expertise in developing and implementing Human Resources strategies. Ensures alignment with the overall mission, strategic goals, and objectives of the University and IU Research. Promotes, manages, and implements all Human Resources activities for IU Research, directs staff in these activities, and acts as liaison to the University Human Resources Office.

General Responsibilities Develops, motivates and leads a highly effective HR team that delivers value to the organization with expert recruiting, talent and development, succession planning and other human capital activities. Partners directly with leadership to develop and implement HR strategies. Provides strategic HR oversight to specified client groups, acting as a trusted adviser to leadership.

Acts as a primary point of contact for senior leaders, providing expertise and guidance in the areas of organizational performance, culture, and change. Coaches leaders on leadership behaviors and practices focusing on development and performance strategies to promote engagement and a culture of continuous growth and development. Leads key HR processes and initiatives, leveraging and partnering with COE's.

Provides strategic HR consulting and problem-solving solutions on the most complex issues to leadership. Partners to create and ensure an environment of diversity and inclusion. Qualifications EDUCATION Required Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business or related field Preferred Master's degree in related field WORK EXPERIENCE Required 5 years of progressively responsible HR or related experience influencing a wide variety of internal stakeholders 2 years of management experience in HR or related functions LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Preferred SHRM-SCP/SPHR within 2 years from date of hire SKILLS Required Ability to inspire and develop staff Ability to lead/manage others Builds and manages effective teams Effective leadership skills Effectively coaches and delivers constructive feedback Instills commitment to organizational goals Strong HR generalist background Proven ability to manage, lead, and drive change initiatives to deliver business results Proven background in strategic influence and negotiation and is skilled in communicating and influencing a wide variety of internal stakeholders resulting in mutually beneficial outcomes Strong business acumen to help lead and drive change Preferred Experience in, and knowledge of, HR best processes within the context of large, complex institutional operations; knowledge of IU HR is a plus Experience with or a strong working knowledge of the research enterprise and research administration at a university Management and team-building experience (trust and back-up), including performance management experience Service orientation: ability to multi-task, prioritize real-time, and operate with a sense of accountability to include urgency and responsiveness as appropriate Strategically minded: proactive, creative and adaptable to implement change Communication skills: ability to listen and translate operational needs; patient leader of consensus building when needed Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment.

The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. Work Location Bloomington, Indiana is primary.

This position is in-person with flexibility on occasion for remote work.
