Summary
This position directs, administers, and coordinates all Trust & Asset Management functions of the Bank in support of policies, goals, and objectives established by the Board of Directors and the senior management team for First Financial Bank. This position directly oversees the management of the Trust & Asset Management Group which includes; Trust Services, Retirement Plan Services, Trust Operations & Tax, Trust Investments, and Business Development.
Essential duties and responsibilities include: providing guidance, leadership, and management in planning, development, production, promotion, and sale of Trust & Asset Management products and services; manage the preparation of short-term and long-term strategic plans and budgets based on overall Bank goals and growth objectives; maintain a plan of establishing procedures to ensure on-going development of staff to provide for continued and future success; develop and institute procedures and controls for promoting effective communication and information flow; establish operating policies consistent with the Bank's policies and objectives and ensure their execution; evaluate all Trust & Asset Management operations on a regular and systematic basis and communicate these results to the President & CEO; ensure that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct reports are defined and communicated; ensure that all Trust & Asset Management operations and activities pertaining are carried out ethically and are in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws.
This position is also responsible for developing and managing the sales effort within the Trust & Asset Management group of the Bank by holding applicable personnel accountable for meeting their established sales and retention goals; delivery of Trust & Asset Management products and services; development and maintenance of internal and external image of responsibility lines; and managing a team that meets customers' Asset Management needs and grows the product line profitability by establishing new and stronger customer relationships.

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of ten years progressive Trust/Wealth Management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job. Strong understanding of industry and demonstrated knowledge/capabilities in the areas of financial analysis, wealth attainment and management, business administration, legal and ethical practices, marketing, business development and sales. Strong influence, management, and communication skills - for communication with staff at all levels, leading cross-business teams, etc. Ability to think strategically, synthesize the most complex business/financial data and develop innovative solutions. Excellent planning, organizing and leadership/supervisory skills. Excellent verbal, written, and executive presentation skills. Ability to facilitate progressive change. Successful experience building new customer and managing existing customer relationships. Prior sales management experience required. Experience leading design, development, and quality teams through process reengineering and other consolidation activities. Advanced degree (JD, MBA) or designations (CTFA, CFP, Series 6, 7, 63 License) preferred.
Primary Activities

  • Responsible for the overall management of the Trust & Asset Management Group's operation and profitability.
  • Establishes, implements, and directs sales efforts for Trust & Asset Management personnel. Ensures that established sales goals are being promoted, achieved, and are results driven.
  • Develops marketing and sales initiatives that support retention and attraction of client base.
  • Regularly conduct staff and/or sales meetings with Trust & Asset Management Group personnel. Provide reports on a monthly and/or quarterly basis to applicable personnel on the attainment of sales and retention goals.
  • Minimizes bank's liability exposure by complying with established policies and procedures and enforcing controls, ensuring that staff and associates comply.
  • Prepares financial and regulatory reports required by law, regulations, and the Board of Directors.
  • Stays current and provides leadership in all areas of Trust & Asset Management activity, including but not limited to probate wills, estates and estate planning, trust and agency accounts, management of accounts, fiduciary responsibility, trust operations, employee benefit programs, investments, etc.
  • Directs Trust & Asset Management Department personnel in activities to ensure prompt, accurate, and dependable customer service.
  • Develops new account relationships through community and professional visibility.
  • Keeps abreast and makes staff aware of changes in general tax, investment, accounting and fiduciary laws and regulations affecting Trust & Asset Management and estate administration in order to provide the best service to current and potential new clients.
  • Contributes to the sales effort by sharing technical expertise and product knowledge.
  • Exercises creativity in modifying standard products and developing processes in response to client's individual needs.
  • Plan, develop and approve specific operational policies, programs, procedures, and methods directly relating to responsibility lines.
  • Develop, maintain, and administrate a sound organizational plan for all areas of responsibility; initiate improvements as necessary.
  • Articulate a compelling vision for all areas of responsibility. Ensure company staff are aligned to achieve the vision.
  • Develop key metrics and methods for pricing, resource estimation, project delivery, and risk assessment for all projects associated with areas of responsibility.
  • Oversees product development/pricing/marketing for all Asset Management products.
  • Consistently ensure that all areas of responsibility are operated in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws.
  • Coordinate development of operating and capital budget for responsibility centers according to budget calendar, monitor monthly, other financial statements for performance, and take effective corrective action as required.
  • Resolve problems/concerns with administrative staff/department heads that concern all areas of responsibility.
  • Recommend and oversee the implementation of administrative policies that relate to responsibility centers.
  • Conduct and provide oversight on special studies / projects at the request of the President & CEO.
  • Participate in and/or chair various First Financial Bank committees.
  • Interpret organizational and departmental policies, objectives, and operating procedures to administrative staff, department heads and support staff.

Ensure that all Trust & Asset Management Group activities within the Bank are managed consistently, delivered on time, with high quality, meet organization's vision, and meet revenue and profit goals; develop strategies and manage the organizational process for continuing to develop competency; and, ensure that staff stays current with trends and that products and delivery capabilities are state of the art.
