The Job:
Tools & Outdoor (T&O), a division of Stanley Black & Decker, has an opportunity for a Human Resources Generalist to act as a business partner and provide a full range of day-to-day Generalist support to all functions in a unionized manufacturing facility. The position will be responsible for supporting the overall execution and implementation of HR related items. This position is located onsite in our New Britain, CT facility. You'll get to:
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with business stakeholders and union representatives with the highest degree of integrity and discretion
  • Ensure that Human Resources practices are aligned with business goals in the areas of benefits administration, compensation programs, employee relations, HRIS, labor relations, leave of absence management, onboarding, organizational development, payroll, and recruiting
  • Identify priority business-related talent needs and work with management, Talent Acquisition, and staffing agencies as applicable to ensure a flow of top and diverse talent for every position
  • Support Managers in ensuring consistent employee adherence to policies, laws, and guidelines to sustain a positive workplace
  • Provide advice and counsel to Managers / Supervisors on addressing employee and labor relations issues
  • Support the performance management process as it relates to coaching, development, discipline, and training
  • Serve as backup to Payroll Administrator and Leave of Absence Administrator
  • Maintain accurate employee records in Workday and in personnel files
  • Champion benefit programs such as annual enrollment and employee wellbeing initiatives
  • Participate in new hire onboarding activities and training
  • Conduct exit interviews for employees as required
  • Other duties as assigned

The Person:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Human Resource Generalist with expereince in Employee Investigations
  • Experience in a Union Manufacturing or Distribution environment preferred
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Polish a plus
  • Knowledge of a wide range of Employment Law standards and regulations
  • Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office programs
  • Experience with HRIS and Payroll systems (Kronos and/or Workday preferred)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with diverse audiences including unionized associates
  • Effective organization, time management skills, and attention to detail
  • Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills but also the ability to work independently
  • Willing to travel occasionally
