The HR Business Partner provides onsite support and leadership for assigned Plant(s) by balancing long- and short-term initiatives and managing processes and people functions. The HRBP will be the primary partner for all plant management ensuring people initiatives/processes connect to the business needs. This role is responsible for strengthening the employer-employee relationship and leading constructive and effective employee and labor relations through engagement activities, HR investigations and resolving ER concerns promptly, performance management partnership, execution of hourly staffing needs, and design/execution of all HR priorities within the plant(s).

Essential Job Functions:

  • Act as a strategic and hands-on tactical Human Resources leader to the facility leadership team by fully engaging in day-to-day operations. Provides HR assistance, counsel, advice, and execution and operates as a strategic thought partner to the director of operations and plant manager in pursuit of achieving the plant’s goals and objectives.
  • Create a positive employee relations environment through close engagement and interaction with all employees across the site, including coaching and advising managers and employees around company policies, identifying and resolving problems, course correcting as necessary, and partnering proactively to minimize ER issues and ensure legal compliance around employment practices.
  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues and HR investigations by conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Manage employee medical accommodation requests and leaves of absence requests/administration.
  • Partner with the Director of Operations and Plant Manager to develop a high-performing site leadership team, engaging leaders at all levels of high-performing, focusing, and effectively building leadership capabilities.
  • Execute hourly workforce planning/staffing along with execution and support for hourly onboarding and orientation/welcome to the facility programs, focusing on reducing hourly turnover and bringing stability to the workforce.
  • Coach managers on leading change, engaging employees to reduce resistance, and ensuring that behaviors support the company culture.
  • Guide and support leaders on performance management, including coaching, discipline, and development.
  • Manage worker’s compensation process and partner with Safety and Plant Leadership to ensure the safe return of injured employees and preventative measures to reduce employee accidents and injuries.
  • Supports and provides leadership for a Health and Safety-First culture through involvement and leadership.
  • Partner with HRD and HR department to ensure HR practices/initiatives and processes address the needs of the employee population.
  • Weekly payroll processing via ADP.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • 4 to 6 years of related experience in Human Resources, preferably in an HR manager or HRBP role; experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or fulfillment environment is a plus.
  • Previous experience processing payroll.
  • Experience working with both an exempt and non-exempt workforce, including experience in staffing/hiring an hourly workforce.
  • Direct hands-on experience in Human Resources, including performance management, conducting investigations, employee relations, employment law, and managing leaves of absence.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining effective relationships with employees at all levels of an organization.
  • Thrives with a high-volume workload, requiring HRBP to prioritize, leverage partnerships as necessary, be able to “roll up your sleeves,” and possess a high sense of urgency.
  • HRIS experience; ADP experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, a positive, can-do attitude, and ability to influence the employee experience.
  • Results oriented, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to use HR metrics and analytics to guide decision making.
