Job description

General:
This is a 12-month contract position based in West Hartford, CT or Atlanta, GA (hybrid).

About Us
Beazley is a specialist insurance company with over 30 years’ experience helping people, communities, and businesses to manage risk all around the world. Our mission is to provide beautifully designed insurance, innovating to give our clients the maximum benefit with minimum hassle. Our products are wide ranging, from cyber & tech insurance to marine, healthcare, financial institutions, and contingency, covering risks such as the weather, film production or protection from deadly weapons.
Our Culture
We employ over 2,000 people globally, hosting a wonderful diversity of cultures, experiences, and backgrounds. We are proud of our family-feel culture, and empower people to choose where to work, based on what they need to do and meeting the needs of stakeholders, in an adult environment that is big on collaboration, diversity of thought & personal accountability.
Our three core values inspire the way we work and how we treat our people & customers – 1) Be bold 2) Strive for better 3) Do the right thing. Upholding these values every day has enabled us to become an innovative and responsive organization in touch with the changing world around us – our ambitious I&D & Sustainability targets are testament to this.
The CCE team
Beazley’s strategy guides what we do, and our culture determines how we do what we do. There’s so much that’s unique about us, and the CCE team (and broader C&P) need to protect what’s great while we nurture what’s new, and talk about it across the business. A lot.

How we say something is as important as what we say. Videos, podcasts, graphics, presentations, emails – they all have their place. We want to communicate with people in ways that suit what we’re saying, and the intended audience. Keeping people up-to-date and engaged, but not overloaded.
To us:
  • Communication’ means: Keeping everyone informed – with updates that are accurate, timely and relevant to you
  • Culture’ means: How we do things here – the ways we work together, treat each other, and bring our values to life
  • Engagement’ means: Bringing people together – by understanding what you think, and acting on how you feel

Responsibilities:
The role
This role reports to the Head of Internal Communications, Culture and Engagement.
The role holder works as one of four CCE Business Partners (and with the broader CCE team), to provide support, guidance and challenge to a variety of stakeholders on internal communications, culture and engagement.
CCE Business Partnering
They play an integral part in enabling all our colleagues across the business to connect with each other, our strategy, and our purpose. This is managed through maintaining dedicated relationships with specific members of the Exec / leadership teams / functional areas, and leading on the delivery of tactical, strategic and ad hoc communications in these areas.
  • By ‘tactical' communications we mean: a regular cadence of ‘business as usual’ comms, focused on informing and engaging a specific team or area of the business (e.g. monthly functional updates)

  • By ‘strategic’ communications we mean: specific, bespoke ‘ad hoc’ projects, potentially requiring one or more members of the CCE team to deliver, focused on bringing about a specified outcome (e.g. communicating an organisational redesign)

  • By ‘ad hoc’ communications we mean those that crop up unexpectedly, and can be potentially sensitive or relate to an emergency (and sometimes need to go out to the whole business at short notice)
As part of these stakeholder relationships, there is also the need to act as a trusted advisor to maintain and develop the culture of the business areas – having ‘an ear to the ground’ to understand when and why certain teams may need more focus to support our people and boost engagement.
The role holder works with the broader CCE team on the design and delivery of team / functional / group-wide events that support our culture (e.g. Exec Q&As, strategy events, results presentations, functional deep-dives, welcome calls, employee social events, culture days, etc.) and campaigns (e.g. translating our engagement survey results into measurable actions etc.) to highlight and promote specific issues.
They also work on a range of CCE projects as and when necessary (e.g. reviewing and refreshing our channels, audience segmentation, strategy development, identifying new comms and engagement platforms, etc.), to improve delivery across the whole CCE team.
The role holder is proactive, acting as an ‘internal journalist’ seeking out interesting stories (about leadership, change, people, strategy etc.) from across the business, and finding the right channel to deliver them to the right audience.
We all also use data in everything we deliver, to measure how effective our comms, culture and engagement efforts are, and flex our style accordingly.

Key Relationships:
Head of CCE / CCE team / C&P Management Team / Exec members / Functional leadership teams / Change programme leads, Heads of Office, Office Admins, third party agencies.

Salary:
Salary range between $70,000-$95,000 and it's based on location and the incumbent's experience.

Person Specifications:

If you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t perfectly align with every requirement and qualification in the job specification, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might just be the right candidate for this, or one of our other roles.

Ways of working
As a team, CCE are flexible (e.g. we work on a range of different projects and rotate our stakeholders periodically), collaborative (e.g. we lend a hand to all team members as and when required, and ask for help when we need it), and aware (e.g. we know that people have needs and responsibilities outside of work, and we take account of this).
Furthermore, we have four principles that shape how we work with the business:
  • Protect what’s great, embrace what’s new
  • Show, don’t tell (where appropriate)
  • Sometimes say less, always listen more
  • Put our people at the centre
