The Talent Acquisition Specialist will oversee recruitment and hiring functions for UDA, including sourcing top talent, conducting phone screens, coordinating interviews, onboarding employees, managing budgets and vendor partnerships, processing background checks and drug screens, and managing applicant tracking system (ATS). The ideal applicant will also be willing to "wear many hats" and assist in daily administration and various projects throughout the organization as needed.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Be the subject matter expert for all things pertaining to recruitment and hiring at UDA. Employees and leadership alike will look to you for insight on the hiring market, trends, and metrics.
• Have a passion for people and phone calls! You’ll serve as the talent gatekeeper ensuring top candidates, that align with UDA’s culture and vision, are screened, and moved through the hiring process.
• Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
• Manage and report on essential hiring metrics, including time-to-fill, total requisitions, retention, etc.
• Develop detailed and skills-based job descriptions for new and existing positions.
• Conduct or acquire background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
• Oversee the new hire onboarding process to promote a welcoming employee experience while ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines.
• Coordinate with senior leadership to manage vendor partnerships and recruitment marketing budget.
• Answer frequently asked questions from applicants and employees on policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refer more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
• Address employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
• Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
• Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
• Develop relationships with local universities and organization to create new talent pipelines or internship programs.
• Always maintain food safety and quality standards, resolving and/or reporting compliance issues immediately.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Strong understanding of full cycle recruiting with the ability to establish process where needed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to conduct several phone calls regularly.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to jump into new projects, train, coach, and advise managers as hiring subject matter expert.
• Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
• Working understanding of human resource principles, practices, and procedures
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Proficiency with, or the ability to quickly learn, the UDA’s HRIS and talent management systems.
Experience:
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a recruiter (agency and internal recruiting experience preferred), talent sourcer, or similar human resource role
• Previous experience managing applicant tracking system (ATS) or HRIS, experience with JazzHR is a plus
Education/Certifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
• PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP, a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Requires ability to walk, stand, and remain sedentary for long periods of time
• Requires ability to comprehend verbal and written instructions
• Requires ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, reach, lift, push, pull and carry items up to 25lbs
