Robert Half is seeking an individual to join a dedicated team at a non-profit organization, committed to making a positive impact in the Portland community. As an HR Specialist, you will be offered meaningful work while gaining valuable experience in the non-profit sector. This is a contract opportunity and will be fully on-site.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Screening and recruiting new staff using platforms such as Indeed, ensuring a diverse and talented workforce.
- Conducting new employee orientation to familiarize newcomers with the organization's mission, values, and policies
- Managing payroll issues to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time
- Assisting with employee pay raises and performance evaluations to recognize and reward exceptional contributions
- Supporting the process of terminating employees with professionalism and adherence to legal requirements
- Generating and sending out offer letters to successful candidates, making hiring decisions in collaboration with hiring managers
- Ensuring employee benefits are aligned with company policies and legislation, including coordinating health insurance enrollment and administering other benefits
- Maintaining up-to-date employee records and ensuring compliance with HR regulations by keeping company employee books current
- Coordinating with the HR Information System (HRIS) and Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to streamline HR processes
- Staying informed about changes in HR policies and laws, implementing necessary updates to ensure compliance.
- Completing various employee documentation and preparing/updating employee files accurately
- Providing additional HR support as needed to contribute to the overall success of our organization
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- Previous experience in an HR Specialist, HR Generalist, HRBP, HR Manager, or similar role required
- Familiarity with HRIS and ATS systems required
- Experience with Paylocity highly desired
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
- Knowledge of HR policies and regulations
