Location: Chicago, IL

Type: Contract to hire

Pay: $24-33/hourly

Job Responsibilities:

Payroll and Benefits Administration:

• Run bi-weekly payroll by for students, part-time hourly and non-exempt employees, which includes students’ stipends.
• Process semi-monthly payroll for exempt faculty and staff, which includes stipends, extra pays, etc.
• Review payroll reports to verify all entries before printing the checks/advice.
• Monitor the usage of college work-study funds.
• Support employees with completing payroll paperwork and various benefit forms.
• Follow up with appropriate parties when there is an issue or concern regarding payroll compliance.
• Contact employees who have not completed required personnel paperwork. This includes sending multiple reminders to submit timesheets.
• Process direct deposit transactions through ACH according to payroll schedule.
• Other duties as assigned.

Office Administration

• Offer in-person office coverage for walk ins to the HR office.
• Provide clerical support in HR department to include copying, faxing, filing, and maintaining personnel files.
• Monitor and respond appropriately to the general HR email inbox and calendar.
• Establish electronic student and staff personnel files.
• Perform annual audits of employee payroll records, including benefit forms, tax forms, direct deposit forms, and support audit of I-9 forms, etc.
• Work on special administrative and HR related projects assigned.
• Process all employment verifications in a timely manner both via the phone and paper requests.
• Back-up for arranging and coordinating interviews and postings jobs as needed.
• Send notification emails and application updates to applicants when required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

· 2-3 years’ HR Experience

· Bachelor’s degree

· Payroll knowledge and processing skills

· Ellucian Colleague Payroll Experience
