BASIC FUNCTION
This position provides administrative support to the Human Resources (HR) Department, in the areas of staffing, training, employee benefits, employee relations, and general office management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Schedule and conduct assigned interviews.
- Conduct background checks and help evaluate job candidates as directed.
- Interface with selected staffing agencies, complete weekly time sheets, verify weekly temporary billing statements and maintain a log to report to management.
- Maintain files for employees with our staffing agencies and distribute evaluations and attendance reports.
- Extend offers of employment to approved job candidates.
- Assist with new employee and safety orientations and other assigned training.
- Prepare and maintain any assigned HR files, such as personnel folders, transactions, payroll/status, & training records
- Answer employee questions and help resolve problems in a timely fashion.
- Assist with assigned employee time/attendance and benefits paperwork as needed.
- Help with company communications (bulletin boards, etc) and coordination of special activities.
- Comply with federal, state, and local employment laws, including EEO, wage/hour, OSHA & workers compensation, when interfacing with employees.
- Meet accepted standards of confidentiality, diplomacy, and objectivity when interfacing with employees.
- Help administer the company's employee locker and identification programs.
- Assist with the implementation of company policies and procedures when necessary.
- Understand and follow quality-related standards and documentation.
- Maintain a clean workstation throughout each shift.
- Other duties as assigned.
ADVANCED DUTIES
- Fill in for other HR personnel in his/her absence.
- Generate and distribute employee performance reviews.
- Assist with employee discipline and separations as necessary.
- Administer the company's employee benefits package in cooperation with accounting.
- Represent the HR Department at employee meetings and related events as assigned.
- Provide technical training or HR procedural instruction to coworkers.
SKILLS
- Able to read, comprehend and carry out simple, but detailed instructions, both written and oral
- Detail-oriented: accurate, consistent, thorough, and neat
- Able to maintain clean work area and demonstrate commitment to workplace safety.
- Able to maintain a satisfactory attendance record as required for this position.
- Proficient in typing
- Associate degree in business administration or HR certification
- Must be proficient with windows applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Must have proficient interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work with highly confidential information.
- Comfortable being in front of people.
