Job description

BASIC FUNCTION

This position provides administrative support to the Human Resources (HR) Department, in the areas of staffing, training, employee benefits, employee relations, and general office management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Schedule and conduct assigned interviews.
  2. Conduct background checks and help evaluate job candidates as directed.
  3. Interface with selected staffing agencies, complete weekly time sheets, verify weekly temporary billing statements and maintain a log to report to management.
  4. Maintain files for employees with our staffing agencies and distribute evaluations and attendance reports.
  5. Extend offers of employment to approved job candidates.
  6. Assist with new employee and safety orientations and other assigned training.
  7. Prepare and maintain any assigned HR files, such as personnel folders, transactions, payroll/status, & training records
  8. Answer employee questions and help resolve problems in a timely fashion.
  9. Assist with assigned employee time/attendance and benefits paperwork as needed.
  10. Help with company communications (bulletin boards, etc) and coordination of special activities.
  11. Comply with federal, state, and local employment laws, including EEO, wage/hour, OSHA & workers compensation, when interfacing with employees.
  12. Meet accepted standards of confidentiality, diplomacy, and objectivity when interfacing with employees.
  13. Help administer the company's employee locker and identification programs.
  14. Assist with the implementation of company policies and procedures when necessary.
  15. Understand and follow quality-related standards and documentation.
  16. Maintain a clean workstation throughout each shift.
  17. Other duties as assigned.

ADVANCED DUTIES

  1. Fill in for other HR personnel in his/her absence.
  2. Generate and distribute employee performance reviews.
  3. Assist with employee discipline and separations as necessary.
  4. Administer the company's employee benefits package in cooperation with accounting.
  5. Represent the HR Department at employee meetings and related events as assigned.
  6. Provide technical training or HR procedural instruction to coworkers.

SKILLS

  1. Able to read, comprehend and carry out simple, but detailed instructions, both written and oral
  2. Detail-oriented: accurate, consistent, thorough, and neat
  3. Able to maintain clean work area and demonstrate commitment to workplace safety.
  4. Able to maintain a satisfactory attendance record as required for this position.
  5. Proficient in typing
QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Associate degree in business administration or HR certification
  2. Must be proficient with windows applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
  3. Must have proficient interpersonal and customer service skills.
  4. Ability to work with highly confidential information.
  5. Comfortable being in front of people.
