Position Overview
Under the supervision of the HR Director, the HR Program Coordinator will be responsible for compliance of university conducted background checks, drug testing, HR Compliance Audits, Child Labor, driving record check processing and unemployment. The HR Program Coordinator will will support the UI recruitment process and be responsible for other HR related duties.
Duties may include:
- Conducting background checks
- Assisting in the development and implementation of background check and drug testing programs, policies and procedures
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, policies and procedures and funding source requirements
- Providing training regarding background check and drug testing policies and procedures
- Supporting the UI recruitment process; processing driving record checks
- Researching problems; rules, policies and procedures and explaining to staff and potential employees; responding to requests for information
- Reviewing, developing, and maintaining accurate and timely data, records, and correspondence
- Collecting, analyzing, and compiling information
- Assisting with training on related topics
- Maintaining and ensuring confidential environment at all times
- Maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations and university policy
- Providing customer service
- Performing related work contributing to team efforts
- Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications
Required Experience
- Experience working in human resources or customer service related field
- Administering programs such as criminal background check and drug testing programs and/or processes
- Experience: gathering, compiling, and reviewing accurate data; setting priorities and meeting deadlines with frequent interruptions; maintaining confidentiality of sensitive material; and working effectively independently and in a team
Required Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Other
Additional Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or other related field
- Experience working with recruitment processes and systems
Experience working with unemployment benefits and responses to appropriate agencies - Experience in: compliance oversight, interpreting, applying and explaining complex information such as regulations, policies or laws; researching a variety of sources to identify and resolve problems or issues
- Experience working in higher education or state government and working with personnel policies and procedures
- Experience working with a HRIS system
- Experience auditing records for compliance
- Experience working with Banner
