Wollman Park Partners (WPP) is a coalition of New Yorkers representing decades of experience across multiple sectors; including sports and entertainment; finance; health and wellness; diversity, equity, and inclusion; real estate; culinary; non-profit; youth development and sustainability. Additionally, WPP's proposal for Wollman is designed to serve the community first - all net proceeds from the project will be invested in the Rink, community partners, and the City. WPP consists of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, the Related Companies and Equinox, in close partnership with Great Performances, restaurateur Melba Wilson, YMCA, Ice Hockey in Harlem, Figure Skating in Harlem, The Boys' Club of New York, and Green City Force.
Position Summary
The Human Resources Manager/Generalist will be a key member of the leadership team at Wollman Rink and report directly to the General Manager. You will be responsible for leading the creation and execution of our HR strategy, inclusive of managing payroll and HR operations, as well as employee relations, talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, and compliance. Our ideal candidate is someone that can work and lead independently, shares our passion for cultivating strong organizational culture, and is equally enthused in elevating the service delivery of HR through improved tools, processes, and infrastructure.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Focus on culture through defining and implementing strong practices and processes in talent management, performance management, coaching, talent acquisition, retention, and engagement of staff.
  • Provide counsel to employees and management on employment issues, in conjunction with Legal as needed. Assure compliance with federal and state labor and employment laws.
  • Conduct investigations, provide guidance on performance conduct matters, facilitate the resolution of disputes, interprets company policy, etc.
  • Assist businesses in the development of related guidelines and procedures.
  • Manage the full life-cycle recruitment process including sourcing, screening and interviewing candidates for full and part-time roles with high volume seasonal needs.
  • Manage & oversee Onboarding & Offboarding process in HRIS (Insperity) and time management systems.
  • Work closely with management and staff to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Maintain FMLA, ADA, and all leave of absence tracking and ensure proper communication and documentation.
  • Manage and administer employee health and welfare benefits including 401(K), enrollments, maintenance, employee inquiries, reconcile benefit vendor invoices, and lead compliance audits and testing.
  • Manage and maintain human resource records and filing systems in accordance with filing best practices which includes both past and current records, staff lists and headcount with departments.
  • Implement human resources processes and procedures by establishing department standard operating procedures that will continuously improve HR operations.
  • Report and maintains employee documentation to include EEO-1 filing, Workers' Comp carrier and OSHA.
  • All other HR related projects & tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
  • 4-6 years of Human Resources experience preferred, with 1-2 years being in payroll and employee relations
  • Passion for supporting high-performing teams and working in an industry that requires a demanding schedule, the ability to adapt and prioritize key objectives
  • Experience with HRIS systems (Insperity a plus) along with learning and navigating general HR systems and reporting
  • Critical Evaluation- excellence in problem-solving, must exhibit good judgment

Work Environment
  • Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Work Environment: This position generally requires that work be performed from the Wollman Rink office, but attendance at events taking place in the rink or offsite, including on weekends and/or holidays, may be required.
  • The venue is a combined indoor/outdoor space and is subject to the extremes of heat and cold normally found in New York City. The position requires working in various weather situations, including rain and snow. Work may occur in loud environments and with loud machinery.
  • COVID-19 Vaccine Required: As of the first day of employment, you must be able to demonstrate proof that you are fully vaccinated (as defined by the CDC) against COVID-19, unless you are granted a medical or religious exemption in accordance with Company policy.

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this position is $75,000-$85,000; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
