Description

Job purpose

Human Resource Manager is directly responsible for the overall coordination of the human resources department over all 5 campuses with over 230 employees. This person is the sole HR liaison for the school and is responsible for all HR related actions.

Summary:

The Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Provides support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with campus leaders to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Develops HR related goals, objectives and systems.
  • Recommends and implements personnel policies and procedures; maintains handbook on policies and procedures.
  • Performs benefits administration to include answering employee's benefit questions and annual re-evaluation of all plans.      
  • Manage all outside vendors with regards to benefits, NVPERS and any other agencies utilized by Coral Academy
  • Employee relations counseling.
  • Establishes and maintains department records and reports.
  • Responsible for time and attendance tracking/report.
  • Responsible for monthly payroll processing.
  • Nurture a positive working environment.
  • Review and respond to unemployment claims with appropriate documentation.

Core Competencies / Essential Functions

  • Administer various employee benefits programs, such as group health, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, NVPERS and wellness benefits.
  • Maintain employee benefits filing systems and ensure benefits changes are entered appropriately in payroll system for payroll deduction.
  • Out processes all departing employees to include coordinating with appropriate offices the removal from email, phone, voicemail, access, and benefit processing in accordance with State and Federal requirements (COBRA).
  • Assist employees with health, dental, life and other related benefit claims.
  • Verify the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims and costs. Resolve administrative problems with the carrier representatives or insurance broker.
  • Administer COBRA and disability plans with third-party administrator.
  • Review and respond to unemployment claims with appropriate documentation.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation certificates of coverage for clients and assuring policy is up to date with third-party administrator.
  • Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.

Demonstrates a high level of dependability on all aspects of the job by showing commitment and accountability to one’s work. Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and 2 + years equivalent experience. K-12 Public School experience preferred, but not required.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with legal, audit and compliance staff.
  • Good written and communication skills.
  • Good critical evaluation skills.
  • Good ethical practice skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

 Working conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This is a full-time position.  

 Physical requirements

The ability to work in an office environment, seated for long periods of time, in front of a computer, while typing documents, responding to emails, managing calendars and answering phones.

Additional Job Information
New employees will be fingerprinted upon hire and every 5 years thereafter. 
Holiday: Eligible employees receive ten (10) paid holidays each year. Personal: Eligible employees receive (3) days of paid personal leave each year. Sick Leave: Eligible employees receive five (5) days of paid sick leave each year. Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance: Eligible employees may select an insurance plan wherein CAS contributes 100% of insurance premiums. Eligible employee paid dependent medical insurance is available for an employee's dependents. Insurance Premiums - Summer Months: CAS contributes 100% of the district paid portion of eligible employee's insurance premiums for employees who are not scheduled to work in the summer.
No State Income Tax. No Social Security deductions for most positions working 20 hours per week or more. Retirement benefit offered is the State of Nevada retirement system, Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), which is one of the best in the country.
