Location and Working Environment:
- Location: Columbus, OH
- Shift Hours: Flexible 9:00 AM-6:00 PM
- This role operates full-time in the office.
Expectations and Responsibilities:
The HR Manager – Employee Relations and Service is responsible for executing exceptional HR service delivery aligned to Tailored Management’s Mission, Vision, Values, and Principles while operating within a high-growth, collaborative, and evolving business environment. Under the guidance of the HR VP, the HR Manager will own primary oversight and coaching of the external HR Service team while providing cross-department HR leadership support, execution of external HR service processes, and partnership on external associate engagement efforts via creative and agile problem-solving and continuous improvement within the areas of compliance, Employee Relations, leave management, workers compensation, and employee service and engagement support. Reports to VP, Human Resources.
Role Duties:
- Acts as a primary external HR leadership partner for Tailored Management’s Client Services, Operations, Recruiting, and Payroll leaders to ensure optimal external candidate, employee, and client service experience
- Fosters a high performing, cohesive, collaborative, and Service-focused HR service support team by conducting weekly 1:1s with direct report team members. Effectively coaches, mentors, and provides constructive feedback and recognition to enhance the team’s skills, knowledge, and capabilities to support a strong talent bench for present and future HR team needs.
- Coaches and guides direct report HR team members to ensure employee engagement, business and Service process alignment, and exceptional service delivery for client programs and contingent employees on assignment.
- Provides HR leadership and consultation for external Employee Relations matters, including policy interpretation, coaching measures, disciplinary procedures and meetings, MSP/Client meetings, investigations, and assignment ends. Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal legislation and company policy and procedures.
- Leverages analytics tools to monitor and report on HR service team performance metrics; uses data insights to drive improvements in HR processes and business outcomes.
- Consults, manages, and approves contingent employee leave and absence management procedures, including employee requests and tracking FMLA, state family leave, and ADA.
- Consults and oversees worksite injuries and workers compensation claim processes.
- Develops robust project plans with defined deliverables and timeframes to effectively execute HR team and cross-department initiatives and projects for continuous improvement implementation.
Qualifications
Experience:
- 4+ years' HR Generalist experience within a high-volume HR function with increasing scope of responsibilities. Proven ability to navigate complex Employee Relations is required.
- 2+ years proven success mentoring and leading a team for positive business results and individual team member success and growth.
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP Certification a plus.

- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship building skills necessary to work with multi-department teams and leaders, diverse associates, and client account management programs.
- Demonstrates sound judgment, decision making, effective influencing, and problem resolution skills to provide effective oversight of complex associate relations.
- Possesses proven ability to balance external associate, client, MSP, and Tailored Management needs and requests to continuously improve HR service delivery and the external associate experience.
- Exhibits a high level of patience and agility with ability to handle competing priorities from client programs and internal partners.
- Willingness to remain agile and be a creative thought partner to identify opportunities as business and client program needs change frequently and/or rapidly.
- Possesses thorough working knowledge of state and federal employment laws. California employment law certification a plus.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
Working Environment and Physical Demands
- This is a sedentary role that operates in a professional office environment Monday through Friday.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment, hardware, and software such as computers, phones, VoIP, scanners, and photocopiers.
- Regularly required to listen and communicate while performing job duties.
- This role requires occasional availability for client and external associate meetings, phone calls, and/or communications after 6PM EST to meet multi-time zone needs.
