MISSION:

JOB SUMMARY:
The Employee Support Specialist is a professional role that oversees the success of employees with differing abilities for employment at BAC. This is a remote position serving BAC contracts at NASA Langley Research Center, VA and Ft. Liberty, NC with on-site support. Responsible for providing key HR guidance and support to leaders and employees and be an integral part of their assigned locations leadership team. Ensures documentation is in compliance with BAC and regulatory requirements for qualifying individuals with disabilities. Work is performed under general direction with considerable latitude in the use of initiative. Position relies on experience and exercises independent judgment based on subject-matter expertise. The ideal candidate will live within commuting distance from NASA Langley Research Center or Ft. Liberty, NC with frequent travel to other sites.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The list of essential functions below is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this job.
  • Support assigned business operations locations with planning, staffing, scheduling, production levels, accommodations, and leadership support.
  • Establish and maintain meaningful relationships with all levels of management, employees, and key cross-functional stakeholders internally.
  • Partner with recruiters and management to assist with the recruitment process. This may include reviewing/revising job descriptions in the applicant tracking system, interviewing candidates, develop and maintain referral sources; attend job fairs and hiring events as needed.
  • Assist with onboarding new employees including accurate and timely completion of required paperwork.
  • Investigate and appropriately document and assist the resolution of employee relations issues as needed.
  • Partner with site leadership to address performance issues and progressive discipline.
  • Assists on-site management by coaching employees on proper workplace etiquette and performance.
  • Participate in conducting employee exit interviews.
  • Complete Individual Eligibility Evaluations (IEE's) and employment plans for all assigned employees. This requires the collection of qualifying disability paperwork and ensures regulatory standards are met.
  • Provide support to employees in various HR related topics such as leaves, employee relations, benefits, paychecks, and the resolution of any issues that may arise.
  • Support the employee's ability to succeed through the exploration of reasonable accommodations. This may include ordering equipment, addressing transportation needs or making recommendations to management.
  • Assist in training individuals and supervisors in the application and effectiveness of accommodations on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist Payroll by reviewing employee timekeeping records to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure proper classification of employees and submit changes in Human Resources Information System (HRIS) including pay, position and status changes, and coding.
  • Provides input to supervisors and assists in the completion of employee evaluations.
  • Participates in collective bargaining negotiations and ensures compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • None

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Two or more years of experience in Human Resources or working with Individuals with Disabilities (IWD).
  • A combination of education, certification and experience may suffice for education.
  • Must satisfy Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) Level 2 background screening requirements.
  • Must be available to flex their schedule, which may include occasional evening and/or weekends, to support their worksites.
  • Must be able to travel to sites supported on a regular basis.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Must have a driver's license, clean driving record, current insurance coverage and reliable transportation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Technical certification in human resources, education, or a social, behavioral, or rehabilitative science.
  • 4 years' Human Resources experience.
  • Experience working in a Union environment.
  • Bi-lingual - Spanish
  • Proficient in Sign Language
  • Experience working on a Government Service Contract.
  • Prior experience working with Ability One and RESPECT contracts.

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Understanding of General Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Employment laws.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for providing instruction to employees of differing abilities.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Skill in adapting to a changing work environment, competing demands and ability to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Ability to operate a computer using Microsoft Office Suite and applicable department and/or organization specific software.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to regularly attend work and arrive punctually for designated work schedule.
  • Demonstrated strong communications skills, both orally and in writing.

TRAVEL
Work is a remote position with required travel to assigned worksites, NASA Langley Research Center, VA and Ft. Liberty, NC, on a regular basis, minimum every 3 weeks. Occasional travel, 2 times per year, to BAC Corporate offices in Florida. Approximately 15-20% overnight travel.
WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE (IF APPLICABLE)
Must be authorized to access and work on government installations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort usually involving some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 20 pounds). May involve prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting. These tasks can be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Tasks are regularly performed indoors with minimal exposure to adverse environmental conditions (e.g., dirt, heat, cold, rain, fumes).
SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Some tasks require manual dexterity, in addition to visual and hearing acuity.
Availability: Full Time
Salary: $55,000
