Job Overview: The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the daily operations of the Human Resources department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits leave and enforcing agency policies and practices.

Reports To: Director of Human Resources

Employee Classification: Salary, Non-Exempt

Minimum Education Requirements: Associate Degree

Qualifications: The Human Resources Generalist will ideally have SHRM certification and a combination of education and experience in a field of study related to human services (education, psychology, communication disorders, sociology, or other) and have at least 3 years of experience in a clinical office setting. The Human Resources Generalist will have previous human resources experience.

Essential Responsibilities: The primary duties of the position include:

Human Resources:

  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified staff. Performs all hiring tasks for employees including reference checking and background checks;; extends job offers; coordinates new employee orientations and employee recognition programs. Assists with employee retention.

  • Reviews, tracks and documents compliance with training and continuing education, and programmatic requirements.

  • Assists Human Resources Director and Healthcare Administrator in planning and execution of strategic plan.

  • Assists Director of Clinical Quality and Compliance with staff documentation for audit readiness as needed.

  • Provides ongoing coaching and other technical support to Admin and Operations staff.

  • Handles employment related inquiries from applicants, employees, and managers, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff member.

  • Participates in employee relations matters, disciplinary meetings, investigations and terminations.

  • Coaches managers in human resources matters.

  • Maintains personnel files in accordance with organizational, Federal and State Laws.

  • Maintains compliance with Federal, State, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices, reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

  • Assists in preparation of Employee Handbook, policies and procedures and acts as an expert in policies and procedures.

  • Coordinates with the Director of Human Resources with data-gathering, interpretation and analytics.

  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management and employment law.

Scheduling:

  • Creates and maintains master weekly and daily schedule

  • Receive calls from scheduling phone, provide morning on-site support for day-of scheduling changes

  • Assists Program Managers and Insurance Billing department in monitoring conversion of billable hours.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Interacts regularly with families, other stakeholders and key St. Gerard House Personnel

  • Billing support and data entry as needed

  • Uphold all SGH Values and follow the Center’s policies and procedures

  • Comply and ensure that others are complying with all necessary standards and regulations (HIPAA, Child Care Licensure, DCD, BACB, etc.) and maintain any required credential or licensure

  • Other projects as needed.
