The HR Generalist provides support for day-to-day operations as it relates to human resources which includes employee relations, on- and off-boarding, benefit & leave administration, and payroll in accordance with company policy. This position will provide support in the planning, analyzing and execution of policies, procedures, and programs. In addition to the below daily responsibilities, the HR Generalist will also be responsible for projects such as creating and implementing a formal onboarding program, coordinating periodic all-employee meetings and refining existing annual performance review process.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead development and oversight of implementation of personnel policies and procedures, with input from Management
- Keep abreast of and apply employment law and review established HR policies to compliance with Federal and State employment laws (NY, NJ, CA, CT)
- Coach, counsel and assist supervisors and staff regarding issues and concerns
- Maintain HR database ensuring the accuracy of data and compiling of HR reports
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports; including workers compensation, disability and payroll
- Participate and work collaboratively with the training team in the development and execution of new employee orientation programs and procedures for new hires
- Process bi-weekly payroll; ensure time card and vacation approval compliance
- Serve as site subject matter expert for HRM systems
- Onsite contact for employee benefit and workers comp inquires including coordination of open enrollment process and new hire benefit orientation
- Lead annual 360 review process; work with managers to develop professional development plans based on feedback
- Participate in Annual Performance Review Process
- Provide recruitment support as requested by Process Owner; lead all compensation reviews
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources or related field along with 5-7 years’ experience in a Generalist role; SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
- Prior experience with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of employment laws, COBRA, FMLA, and related state and federal regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and a professional attitude.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work on sensitive issues with discretion and a commitment to confidentiality.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple priorities.
- Dependable, punctual and able work independently
- Strong PC skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to collaborate well with multiple colleagues and handle concurrent tasks, set priorities with ease.
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality, exceptional judgment, and positivity.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and a professional attitude.
- Resourceful, and capable of conducting research.
