Job description

The Human Resources Generalist performs a variety of human resource functions to include employee relations, recruitment, counseling, and compensation. This person also provides technical HR and administrative support.


  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three years of Human Resources experience required.
  • SHRM, SHRM CP, SHRM SCP preferred.

  • Compiles and maintains information/documents/files to support established departmental objectives, policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for initiating payroll records for new employees and performing the payroll functions for all employees.
  • Researches and resolves employee questions on HR related topics.
  • Assist with recruitment functions to include screening, testing, wage analyses according to compensation guidelines, extending job offers, and processing candidates through the system. Assists managers with recruitment and interprets policies and procedures related to new hire process.
  • Advises and assists management with interpretation and application of HR policies and procedures, grievance, discipline and termination process under the direction of the HR Manager.
  • Works in conjunction with HR Manager and Employee Health with programs such as workers compensation, unemployment benefits and short-term disability.
  • Assists HR Manager with functions such as New Employee Orientation, FMLA, ADA, performance management, employee relation issues, recruitment and retention and conducts employee exit interviews, maintaining confidentially at all times.
  • Serves as a resource for employees with information on their benefits.
  • Maintain and sustain knowledge base in HR by participation in professional associations and attending educational sessions as appropriate.
  • Support and fosters communication and work to align the Vision, Values, Purposes and Strategies of PHS.
  • Assists with special projects as needed.

The compensation range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors, including but not limited to experience and training, internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each offer.
USD $18.58/Hr.
