Position: Human Resources Generalist
Reports To: Director of Human Resources

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing day-to-day support as needed primarily to Facility Manager as well as all local Management staff and Director of Human Resources. Primary responsibilities include:
  • Preparation of employee files for payroll processing and provide guidance to supervisors concerning timekeeping procedures.
  • Providing confidential and timely responses to employee issues, questions, and concerns.
  • Preparation and storage of reports and documentation relating to payroll, employee personnel files, medical files, recruiting and interview notes, and investigations.
  • Ensure that a supply of human resources forms are available in either electronic or printed format.
  • Supervision of Facility Receptionist/AP Clerk and Human Resources Assistant.
  • Coordinate efforts for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and on-boarding of new hourly employees for facility, and assist hiring managers with open salaried positions.
  • Coordination of employee benefits, wage reviews and hourly employees' wage increases for facility. Work with Central office to communicate merit and wage range adjustments and annual benefit updates.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws for location.
  • Maintain tracking of leave benefits for employees (FMLA, Short-Term Disability, workers' compensation, jury duty, and military leave).
  • Coaching of local management team concerning employee conflicts, performance reviews, establishing annual goals, and investigations.
  • Conduct timely exit interviews and provide insights into improvements to enhance employee experiences to engage and retain team members.
  • Manage workers' compensation claims for facility employees; participate in claim review with insurance and corporate office; and act as liaison between employee, doctor, and insurance. Partner with Facility Safety personnel to complete OSHA 300 log.
  • Review and advise facility management team concerning succession planning and staffing.
  • Provide reports and evaluations to assist in interpretation of employment data in order to address areas of concern as well as identify successes and best practices.
  • Planning/coordination for employee events as needed

JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Note: The job functions relate to the job, not the individual)
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for facility employees, including generation and storage of all related forms/reports.
  • Provide day-to-day support to Facility Manager as well as all management staff to include report/forms generation, assist with finding answers/solutions to employee questions/issues, regulating compliance with company policies/guideline, and insuring management's timely and equitable enforcement of those policies/guidelines.
  • Maintaining computerized and physical employee personnel/medical records in a timely and confidential manner.
  • Assisting all employees with questions/concerns regarding work-related issues, benefits, policy, payroll, etc. Sometimes acting as liaison between employees and company or providers.
  • Coordinate efforts for hiring of new employees including recruitment, testing, interviewing, orientation/on-boarding, and benefit enrollment.
  • Monitor order placement for employee uniforms, shoe program, office supplies and safety eye wear.
  • Directing work activities and supervision of Receptionist/AP Clerk and Human Resources Assistant as well as substituting in their absence as the back-up.
  • Coordination for employee events: dinners, fundraising, meetings, etc.
  • Creation and maintenance of reports for Facility Manager and Management as well as Director of Human Resources and corporate personnel as requested.
  • Maintain flexibility in work schedule to allow for meetings, employee dinners, availability to employees working 2nd an 3rd shifts.
  • Assist in identifying and sourcing training needs for employees of the facility.
  • Actively participate in Obeya Projects.

JOB DUTIES/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS (Not fundamental job duties)
  • Generate forms and complete special typing projects as required.
  • Complete work errands as needed.
  • Supervise employee soft-drink and water fullgoods sales and enter into payroll.
  • Attend outside Human Resources training sessions as provided.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Post-secondary education degree related to business/human resources as well as a minimum of three years of progressive work experience in Human Resources or related field.
  • Strong computer skills to include working knowledge of such programs as Windows, Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision, yet an excellent team player.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and make responsible decisions.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and high level of confidentiality.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to support all company policies/guidelines and enforce employee compliance correctly and equitably.
