Come join our team! Kernutt Stokes is a local public accounting firm looking for an HR Generalist to work in our Eugene office. This is a newly created full-time position that is offered as a hybrid work schedule, with both remote and in-office time scheduled. We are a growing CPA practice founded in 1945 with four locations and a staff of 100 team members.
Job Summary:
The Human Resource Generalist will perform the daily functions of Human Resources (HR) for this professional services organization. Duties will include but are not limited to hiring and interviewing of administrative staff, assisting internal recruiter with all other placements and firm internship program, handling all staff onboarding and off boarding, administering benefits and compensation programs, tracking and support of leave programs, and maintaining and enforcing company policies and practices.
This position will join the finance team reporting to the CFO but will also provide support to the Directors of Talent Acquisition, and Staff Development and Utilization.
Duties/Responsibil it ies:
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs as well as robust benefits offerings to ensure the organization attracts, develops, and retains top talent.
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, professional licensure, continuing education, and work assessments.
- Supports internal coaching and mentoring programs.
- Acts as employee advocate through effective employee relations.
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open administrative positions; assists internal recruiter with all other new hires for the professional staff; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
- Handles all aspects of new hire onboarding and facilitates their various systems setup, new hire training/orientation and benefits enrollments.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Supports various employee recognition programs.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains appropriate statistical information as required for various tracking of KPIs and other metrics.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices (including for employees located outside the state of Oregon); reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Provides support for payroll processing.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- At least one year of human resource management experience preferred.
- SHRM-CP a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
