POSITION SUMMARY:  Performs Human Resources related duties at the professional level and may carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: recruitment, employee relations, training, employment, labor relations, affirmative action and employment equity programs.

KNOWLEDGE & APPLICATION

Learns to use professional concepts. Applies knowledge and basic problem solving techniques to define and resolve problems. Determines a course of action based on guidelines.

COMPLEXITY & PROBLEM SOLVING

Works on problems of limited scope. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. Work is reviewed periodically based on a set of defined procedures or precedence. Normally receives general instruction on work and new assignments.

COLLABORATION & INTERACTION

Develops stable working relationships internally. Exchanges standard/basic information with colleagues and immediate supervisor, project leaders and other professionals in the team./group.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in talent acquisition and recruitment processes
  • Conduct employee onboarding and help organize training & development initiatives
  • Provide support to employees and supervisors in various HR-related topics such as leaves and compensation and resolve any issues that may arise, may need to conduct problem solving investigations.
  • May support a specific shift or group of employees.
  • Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace
  • Assist in development and implementation of human resource policies
  • Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form
  • Enhance job satisfaction by resolving issues promptly, applying new perks and benefits and organizing team building activities
  • Assists with the management and maintenance of the performance appraisal system, monitors for consistency and ensures compliance with budgetary guidelines.
  • Administer compensation and benefit plans
  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, which includes recording and maintaining appropriate documentation regarding discipline session with the employee, termination decisions, etc. 
  • Conducts exit interviews (and will document the interview) to determine reasons behind separations (investigates discrepant information and monitors trends to bring them to the attention of upper management).
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  • Assists other members of the HR team where necessary (risk assessments, benefits, payroll, timesheet collection, orientation, etc.).
  • Facilitates and/or provides training to assigned shift/team.
  • Assists in maintaining HRIS records and compiles reports from database.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

  • A college degree, or equivalent and a minimum of one (1) year of directly related work experience or the equivalent in work experience.  
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience with ADA, FMLA, employee relations and investigations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, persuasively, and professionally, both orally and in written form.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
  • Must be able to effectively manage projects and multiple priorities simultaneously, as well as the ability to organize and prioritize work, including excellent organizational skills.
  • PC literate and familiar with HRIS systems.
  • Must be good with spreadsheets, Excel experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues.
  • Ability to research and analyze various different types of data and information.
  • Ability to make recommendation to effective resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is in consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law.
  • General knowledge of employment laws and practices.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • An extremely perceptive person, who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. The job incumbent must be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill, and the business needs.

 

DESIRED:

  • PHR/SPHR Certification
  • Background in employment law and other government compliance regulations is preferred.
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources programs.
  • Payroll experience
  • Previous manufacturing experience
  • Technical recruiting experience

  • Office and manufacturing environment.
  • May potentially handle hazardous waste in accordance with the safe work practices defined in Hazardous Communication and Hazardous Waste training programs. Initial training is required upon hiring status and every 3 years thereafter. Employees handling hazardous waste will insure that waste containers in their work areas are properly labeled and dated. Employees will ensure that waste containers are closed after transferring waste to them. Report any incidents involving hazardous waste to supervisor.

 

 

OTHER:

  • Other duties as may be assigned.
  • Each employee's primary objective is to assure that the quality, delivery and cost controls within his/her control meet or exceed all of our internal and external customers' requirements.
  • Each employee is required to abide by the Employee Handbook and the rules and regulations explained and provided at each orientation and training session. Special attention must be given to the safety aspects of these documents.
