The Role

Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking an experienced professional to join our HR Business Partner team. This position acts as a central point of contact to our employees and supervisors on matters related to talent management, employee relations, employment, compensation and benefits. Will work with other HR professionals to collaborate and resolve business problems that impact the employee experience.  We thrive on teamwork and are looking for another positive communicator to help us with finding ways to effectively and efficiently execute our key projects. We frequently partner with the business on tactical and strategic planning and we are the driving force for inclusion, diversity and civility. Responsibilities will include implementing Human Resources policies as a generalist, partnering with business operations to ensure a complete understanding of business needs and objectives, and resolves HR issues. Will serve as a HR liaison for most of the following areas: succession planning, talent management, labor relations, employment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, EEO, and/or training and development

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant exempt experience OR Master's Degree and 1 years of relevant professional experience

 

One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
