HR Benefits & Leave Specialist

Responsible for managing the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, FSA, HSA, and 401(k) plans.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries. Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA.

• Advises managers and employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, workers compensation, and short-term and long-term disability benefits.

• Performs quality checks of benefits-related data and reports to Accounting.

• Manages workers comp claims with Pinnacle.

• Responds to benefit inquiries from managers and employees re: plan provisions, benefit enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries.

• Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork (e.g., medical, personal, disability, and FMLA).

• Appropriately and effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absence and/or disabilities.

• Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes, and contribution designations. Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment.

• Manges the annual open enrollment process through a third-party company.

• Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.

• Assists with new-hire orientations as requested/needed.

Qualifications

• 10-year criminal background check

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in HR and/or benefits administration

• Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws

• Demonstrated and proven critical thinking skills

• Ability to efficiently and effectively work independently, as well as collaboratively with staff at all levels within the organization

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Excellent organizational and time management skills

• Current, proficient knowledge of/experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Physical Demands

Position requires prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The employee may occasionally bend, kneel, and/or squat. Must be able to occasionally lift and move up to 15 pounds.
