Job Description
Maintain cleanliness standards of the Hotel in all areas of the Hotel. Effectively manage Housekeeping staff to accomplish daily tasks of the Housekeeping operation. Act as liaison between the operating departments of the Hotel, Front office, Engineering and Housekeeping. Understand operating goals of the hotel. This position will normally function as a Housekeeping Supervisor two (2) days per week and as a Room/House Attendant for the other three (3) days per week). The candidate may fill more days as a supervisor as needed.
JOB DUTIES
- Oversee the responsibilities of the Housekeeping department including guest rooms, public areas, laundry, and guest laundry services.
- Actively participate in all aspects of day to day Housekeeping operations, including room cleaning, inspecting public areas and guest rooms, deep cleaning, laundry, and public areas.
- Supervise Housekeeping teams to maximize the guest experience, exceed expectations and efficiently complete daily departmental objectives.
- Promote unity and teamwork throughout the department.
- Supervises performance, attendance, appearance and conduct of staff.
- Creates and ensures daily completion of staff checklists, projects, and necessary reports.
- Ensures all service standards are met and adhered to.
- Facilitates consistent quality of service to exceed guest expectations.
- Communicate with guests, hotel staff, visitors & vendors in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner.
- Works with Engineering and Front Office to maximize guest satisfaction.
- Informs Housekeeping Manager & Front Desk of room status for arrivals.
- Assists with answering phones, guest requests, lost & found and general inquiries.
- Watch for safety hazards and report them immediately to your Supervisor/Manager.
- Maintain control of keys issued to and return them at the end of each shift.
- Attend all mandatory Department and Hotel meetings.
- Complete all required training within timeframe allotted.
- Act in accordance with fire, health and safety regulations and follow the correct procedures as required.
- Perform other duties as directed, developed, or assigned.
- Support environmental commitments by acquiring the knowledge, skills, and values to be a leader in the global goal of “greening” the hospitality industry.
- Minimum 18 years of age
- US work authorization required
- Minimum six months experience as a Room Inspector (or) Supervisor in a hotel/resort
- Minimum two years experience working as a room attendant in a hotel/resort
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling
- Strong attention to detail as it pertains to cleanliness standards
- Able to demonstrate high energy, and strong enthusiasm for customer service
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal forms. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
- Able to work on your feet for extended periods of time
- Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to work well with other people
