Position Summary:

As a key member of the Resort Operations team, the Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the housekeeping operations within the resort, ensuring that guest rooms, public areas, and facilities are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures overall unit and public area cleanliness by effectively managing the housekeeping function and staff including staff engaged in laundry, unit preparation, and cleaning.
- Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and timely matter.
- Responsible for the training and development of housekeeping staff.
- Plan and prepare employee work schedules.
- Assign daily tasks to employees.
- Answer employee questions and provide assistance when necessary.
- Inspect work performed to ensure that it meets specifications and established standards.
- Confer with staff to resolve performance and personnel issues including annual performance appraisals and to discuss company policies.
- Establish, implement, and maintain operational standards and procedures for the department.
- Investigate complaints about service and equipment and take corrective action.
- Track department labor hours on a per unit turn basis to minimize labor hours and make appropriate changes as needed.
- Maintain required records of work hours, budgets, payrolls, and other information.
- Manage guest service requests in an efficient and courteous manner.
- Manage all Housekeeping department inventory and order new supplies as needed. This includes but is not limited to the tracking and restocking of linen, housekeeping supplies, and guest supplies.
- Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of facilities to determine the type of work required.
- Check and maintain equipment to ensure that it is in working order\ Follows and sets VI’s policies and procedures.
- Reports employee injuries and incidents to resort management or Human Resources.
- Follows all city, county and federal government rules and regulations.
- Follows all OSHA rules and regulations.
- Perform or assist with cleaning and inspecting duties as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Two years of related housekeeping experience.
- One year of supervisory experience.
- Basic computer skills including use of word processing and spreadsheet programs.
- Detail oriented with good organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to demonstrate good judgment when dealing with owners and staff members.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
- Valid driver’s license*
Physical Demands of the Position:
During the course of this job, the employee will regularly engage in standing, utilizing their hands for tasks such as fingering, handling, or feeling, as well as reaching with their hands and arms. Furthermore, walking is frequently required, along with the potential need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally, the employee will be expected to lift up to 10 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Additionally, there may be instances where the employee will need to exert force to push or pull objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
