Job description

Job Summary:

Ensure the highest standards of sanitation, safety, comfort and aesthetics. Direct all housekeeping department projects and programs. Supervise all housekeeping employees, hire and discharge, plan and schedule work assignments, inform new employees about club regulations and inspect housekeeping personnel work assignments. Ensures that adequate supplies are on hand and requisitions supplies; alert Maintenance Department about items or areas requiring repair or replacement.

Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations

  • Knowledge of cleaning supplies, equipment and techniques required.
  • Ability to train and supervise workers and to communicate effectively.
  • The ability to read and understand a catering event order required. Computer knowledge.
  • Able to administer all housekeeping services for the clubhouse, guest rooms and public and staff areas.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Assistant General Manager to establish and execute operational strategies that align with the Club's mission, vision, and goals.
  • Supervise daily operations and staff management.

Member Engagement:

  • Foster a culture of exceptional member service by training and motivating staff to deliver personalized experiences that meet and exceed member expectations.
  • Proactively address member feedback, concerns, and requests, maintaining high member satisfaction.

Staff Leadership:

  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training housekeeping staff, ensuring they receive the necessary training and resources to perform their roles.
  • Provide ongoing guidance, coaching, and feedback to staff, promoting professional growth and a positive work environment.
  • Collaborate with department heads to optimize a team environment.

Financial Management:

  • Work closely with Assistant General Manager, to develop and manage the Club's budget, ensuring financial goals are met and expenses are controlled.
  • Monitor financial reports, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions as needed.

Essential Job Tasks:

Membership

1. Greets members when around the Campus

2. Professionally receives and resolves member complaints.

3. Responds to emails and voicemail the same business day, or at the very latest, the following morning.

Financial and Administration

1. Maintains forms and conducts chemical safety training programs for department personnel.

2. Supervises compliance with outsourced cleaning contractors.

3. Interacts with Purchasing Department personnel for procurement of uniforms, rags and members’ linen supplies.

4. Assist with the development of operating budgets for the housekeeping department.

5. Monitors the budget and takes corrective action to ensure that operating goals are met.

6. Works closely with the Assistant General Manager to ensure that sound financial policies are in place for his/her respective areas of responsibility.

7. Is knowledgeable about Northstar and its functionality

8. Conduct physical monthly inventory with accounting staff.

9. Request and submit capital projects and purchases annually.

Staff Leadership

1. Plans “deep cleaning” activities and schedules for club’s public and guestroom areas.

2. Supervises all housekeeping employees; hires new employees as needed, discharges employees when necessary and writes warning notices when policies have been violated; evaluates employees for promotions or transfers as openings arise.

3. Plans the work of the Housekeeping Department and distributes assignments accordingly; assigns regular and special duties to house persons (custodians), inspectors and linen room attendants; schedules employees and assigns days off according to occupancy forecasts; maintains a time-log record book of all employees within the department.

4. Conducts regular inspections of all club facilities to note needs for special cleaning.

5. Informs new employees about regulations; trains and assigns new employees to work with experienced employees; occasionally checks the work of new employees and reviews the reports made by inspectors.

6. Inspects the housekeeping staff periodically to check quantity and quality of work.

Other Duties

1. Develops and implements linen, supply and other inventory management programs to control expenses.

2. Ensures that employee standards of dress and grooming are consistently met.

3. Ensures that local and state laws and the Club’s policies are adhered to

4. Follows directives and completes assignments with a minimum of supervision.

5. Maintains and manages the uniform program for all club employees.

6. Works with other department heads for set-up of furniture and other necessary items for special events.

7. Attends and actively participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings.

8. Maintains the lost and found department and is responsible for all lost and found items; when possible, determines the rightful owner of and makes arrangements for the return of lost items.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Exposure to loud noise levels and chemicals.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
  • Continuous standing and walking.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
