High School Principal
Tipton Community School District is a highly rated, public school district located in Tipton, Iowa. It has 961 students in grades PK, K-12. The district has an experienced administration team committed to professional growth. The team includes the Superintendent, Director of Teaching and Learning, High School Principal/Director of Equity and Learning Supports, & Elementary School Principal.
The successful 9-12 instructional leader must be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of utilizing student data for the improvement of instruction and learning through collaboration and reflective dialog
Exhibit knowledge in and the application of the Iowa Standards for School Leaders
Demonstrate the ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, parents and community to provide a quality education for all students
Facilitate a building level leadership team
Encourage and support the development of innovative instructional practices which will support differentiation and MTSS
Show commitment towards the belief that all students can and shall learn at a high level
Show knowledge about common core standards and essential skills of instruction
Demonstrate understanding of impact trauma and mental health play on student learning
Have the ability to clearly articulate what student engagement means and looks like
Be able to discuss how assessments are used for learning, of learning and as learning
Provide copies of appropriate certification: 7-12 Principal, Evaluator (New)
Other Responsibilities and Duties:
Observe staff and record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences with staff
Articulate and use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
Supervise and attend High School events such as athletics, fine arts and other extracurricular events.
Utilize current technologies to support leadership and management functions
Actively engaged in developing community partnerships and relationships
Previous leadership experience is preferred but not required.
