Lake Station Community Schools is seeking certified building administrator applicants for a principal position at Thomas A.Edison Junior Senior High School (Grades 6-12) for the 2023-24 school year:

217-days per contract year
The job of Principal for Thomas A.Edison Junior Senior High School is established for the purposes of providing support to the instructional process with specific responsibility for directing assigned programs and services at the Junior Senior High School; providing information and serving as a resource to others; supervising assigned staff; coordinating and supervision school activities, community outreach, addressing discipline, issues, situations and/or problems that arise on campus or with enrolled students, and their parents, guardians, and staff. Edison is a fast-paced environment that may present rapidly evolving situations requiring quick appropriate decision making and decisive action as part of an administrative leadership team.
Education and/or Experience:
  1. Possess a Master's Degree.
  2. Hold a valid Indiana Building Administrator's License or be eligible for one.
  3. Previous experience teaching in a Junior High/Middle School and/or High Schoolpreferred.

Preferred applicants should:
  1. Possess the ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, staff, administration and the public.
  2. Must have good written and oral communication skills and effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
  3. Good organization, decision making, time management and computer skills.

Job Description:
  1. Ability to provide support for staff and students while developing a vision generated through creative thinking, problem-solving and innovative mindset.
  2. Provide curriculum and instruction support.
  3. Teacher evaluations and other staff evaluations as assigned.
  4. Current knowledge of school improvement planning and characteristics of effective school operations.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral presentations.
  6. Knowledge of special education programming including inclusion, discipline and IEP development and implementation.
  7. Demonstrate ability to perform effectively in an atmosphere of multiple and conflicting demands.
  8. Supervision of school activities, including extra-curricular events.
  9. Provide facilities management support.
  10. Willingness and desire to create partnerships with the community.
  11. Any other duties assigned by the assistant superintendent or superintendent.

Compensation:
Commensurate with education and experience.
