The 12-month Caterpillar Career Pathways program is designed to provide High School seniors with an opportunity to build their work skills in preparation for a long-term manufacturing trades career at Caterpillar. Selected students will participate in a multi-phase program that includes both technical and nontechnical skills needed for full-time employment in the welding & manufacturing trades field upon High School graduation.
 

Through classroom and hands-on learning, participants will become proficient in various welding & manufacturing techniques while receiving High School credit and earning a paid hourly wage from Caterpillar as follows:
 

Phase I: Summer internship
Phase II: Fall Semester Co-Op - For High School Credit
Phase III: Spring Semester Co-Op - For High School Credit

QUALITY SPECIALIST

Performs a variety of inspection functions to check the quality and accuracy of in-process parts (including machine setups when required), assemblies, materials, prime products, checking fixtures and gages released to production, master gages and measuring equipment, electrical assemblies, etc. Analyzes special problems arising from faulty methods, defective materials, assembly difficulties, Field Service complaints, etc., and recommends corrective measures. Audits and analyzes data where quality of work produced is poor or erratic, and initiates or recommends changes. Inspects and accepts or rejects all purchased gages or gaging equipment. Repairs gages and certifies results when required. Lays out parts using advanced mathematical calculations and precision inspection equipment to properly check dimensions and relationships.
