Department Overview
Wildfire and Emergency Operations (WEO) is responsible for Wildfire operational mitigations, enterprise Wildfire Mitigation Plans and enterprise Emergency Preparedness & Response. This includes Meteorology and Fire Science, Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) and Enhanced Powerline Safety Settings (EPSS).
Position Summary
The Senior Manager of PSPS Process and Scoping Team is responsible for planning and executing against the ongoing enhancements for Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) Scoping and Process Team. The Senior Manager will take a pivotal role in driving the vision and five-year plan for the PSPS team. The team is responsible for building new and improved processes which will further mitigate wildfire risk, reduce customer impacts and allow PG&E to better understand which assets and customers will be impacted during PSPS events and enable timely information sharing to internal and external stakeholders. The manager will ensure work is completed and in compliance with applicable regulations, tariffs, standards and work procedures. Manages a team of distribution and transmission subject matter experts and program managers to help the greater team meet the goals of the PSPS program.
- This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
CA Minimum: $147,000
CA Maximum: $252,000
&/OR
Bay Minimum: $155,000
Bay Maximum: $265,000
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Job Responsibilities
- Develops metrics and monitors performance of work within assigned program. Sets and achieves staff goals in support of established functional objectives.
- Ensures required CPUC reporting on the program work is completed and delivered to the appropriate parties. May be involved in researching, writing, or developing information for the GRC, WMP or other regulatory filings. May develop and/or provide expert witness testimony or other information to CPUC or other external agency.
- Works closely with internal stakeholders including transmission and distribution operations to define and streamline processes to make PSPS less impactful to customers while mitigating Wildfire risk
- Leads improvement opportunities which are critical for Wildfire risk mitigation and customer impact reduction with high visibility.
- Coaches staff to identify gaps in procedures, processes or training and partners with stakeholders to recommend solutions.
- Manages staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and rewards and recognition.
- Serves as a key member of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during PSPS events.
- Partners with Director in developing policies and relevant governance, processes, infrastructure, documentation and tools to support the program.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, engineering, or other relevant discipline or equivalent experience
- Leadership experience, 3 years
- Job-related experience, 10 years
Desired:
- Strong knowledge of electric utility business operations practices such as maintenance & construction, estimating, design and planning.
- Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements or tariffs for assigned program work.
- Leadership and coaching skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to develop and deliver presentations to various internal and external audiences.
- Influence and negotiation ability, including strong meeting facilitation skills, to effectively prioritize work based on business need and risk assessments.
- Analytical problem solving and decision-making ability.
