JOB SUMMARY
The High School Equivalency Program (HEP) provides educational opportunities that will include effective outreach and recruitment, instruction, and support services for migrant seasonal farm workers and/or their families. The program is tailored to meet student needs and will provide wraparound support services for participating students, including guidance in education and career services. HEP staff works to fulfill the requirements of the HEP program in helping students complete their GED successfully.

También personas que han participado en los últimos 24 meses en un Programa de Educación para Migrantes (MEP) o el Programa Nacional de Empleos para trabajadores Agrícolas (NFJP).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform the job successfully, the individual must be able to focus on the recruitment of people who qualify for the HEP Program.
The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the position description. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
This position develops and implements the HEP Outreach program and includes various other tasks such as data entry, responding to potential students via telephone or email, executing recruitment events, public speaking, and performing various office work.
  • Must be outgoing and willing to take initiative, set goals, and develop strategies for HEP outreach.
  • Initiates recruitment phone call campaigns.
  • Prep materials and organizes recruitment events.
  • Serves as the "Face of KCC HEP" during events aimed at recruiting students.
  • Handles walk-in inquiries.
  • Schedules and administers potential student intake interviews.
  • Maintains accurate student records.
  • Creates strategies and an operational recruitment plan.
  • Prioritize and periodically evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment and outreach plans.
  • Build relationships with nonprofit, church, and community-based organizations that serve English Language learning families.
  • Finds opportunities to create referral systems, and remote KCC programs by inviting presenters.
  • Look for opportunities to post outreach materials, distribute flyers, create or attend special events, and partner with other organizations to attract new students.
  • Enters student's data into the college's computer system and uses other digital data tracking tools.
  • Answers phone calls and emails from possible students and navigates them to the proper solution.
  • Provide campus tours to potential students.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish
  • Up-beat, self-motivated, friendly personality
  • Ability to understand communicate with, and effectively interact with people across cultures.
  • Able to work with others is critical to the success of this position.
  • Must be computer savvy.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, Publisher, and PowerPoint is preferred.
  • Represent the college in a professional manner.
  • Able to drive at night.
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends and evenings for recruiting events.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Able to lift and carry at least 40 pounds.

  13. Llena datos de cada estudiante en el sistema informático del colegio y utiliza otros medios digitales de rastreo de datos.
  14. Responde a llamadas por teléfono y a correos electrónicos de estudiantes potenciales, los guía a una solución posible.
  15. Provee excursiones dentro del campo del colegio a personas interesadas en el programa.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Some experience in marketing, outreach, and/or communications preferred.
