Back to all Jobs Help Desk Specialist (Open Positions: 1) Location: Richland County Administration Building, Columbia, SC 29204 Department: Information Technology Division: Information Technology Job Status: Full-Time Shift: 8:30 AM - 5:00 AM Rate of Pay: TBD - TBD Status: Open Until Filled Apply Now Job Description The Helpdesk Specialist performs technical and administrative duties related to the support of Richland County's technology environment, including microcomputers, laptops, tablets, peripheral devices, phones, and associated software. On a daily basis this position receives and records technology support requests from County employees and other outside agencies that are supported by the RCIT Department. This position accordingly creates Work Orders (WOs) by entering support requests into the helpdesk software system.
Decides which of the RCIT teams should receive the WOs, and then assigns, schedules, and dispatches an appropriate person or team. Receives mentoring and training from the Helpdesk Supervisor and technical advice from the PC/LAN Specialists. Education High school diploma is required.
A two-year degree or equivalent work experience in a related field is preferred. Must be able to supply written proof of completion for all course work and/or degrees that are being used to satisfy the minimum training requirements. Certifications A+ Certification would be a plus.
Additional Microsoft certifications would also be a plus. Licenses Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver's License. Applicants shall provide a current copy of their Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), obtained at the applicant's expense.
