Job description

Manages and leads the quality of supplied parts starting in Series production as QSP (Quality Steering Parts) organization for in-house directed parts within the production technology. Ensures relevant processes and procedures are established and followed. Collaborates with all members of the organization to achieve departmental and shared targets and objectives. Ensures relevant QSP Front Desk processes and procedures are defined and followed within the technology for Series production. Provides data analysis and steering to the technology for parts quality. Provides technical problem-solving expertise to production process specifically related to Press Shop and Production hang on Parts supplied parts.

Performs root cause analysis for paint related technical problems. Leads cross functional quality improvement and problem resolution issues with teams Performs day to day responsibilities with limited supervision. Supports production management team with corrective actions for process and verification for supplied parts. Conducts/assists management team with in-depth data analysis associated with the problem-solving process for supplied parts. Initiates PQM (Product Quality Management) incidents to the back desk QMT for supplied parts issues in accordance with the technologies corrective action and escalation procedure. Responds to plant sensors and ensures robust containment of nonconforming material (parts that do not meet specifications).

Ensures proper documentation of process disruptions and the associated problem-solving process in the appropriate quality systems. Serves as the first point of contact to the internal press shop supplier and QMT Back desk when information exchange is required. Evaluates the supplied parts meet BMW Groups quality standards and specifications and steers the control of non-conforming material. Steers QSP Front Desk cost recovery for supplier performance topics including management of disputes and reallocation within BMW.

Steers the on-site supplier representatives for relevant supplier responsibilities. Serves as the point of contact for first level escalation for the production area and cross-functional teams in problem solving. Understands the basics of Phosphate / E-Coat, and Paint application Processes if applicable to that technology. Awareness to Corrosion Protection requirements as it relates to Paint processes if appliable to that technology. Develops systems and steers internal reject control of parts and processes within Paint Shop. Manages supplier representatives while on BMW premises and ensures that BMW requirements and procedures are being followed.. Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving. Adheres to 6S and Safety Standards and Principles. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

BA/BS degree in Engineering or Technical discipline;
OR
AA/AS degree in a technical field AND 2 years of professional manufacturing experience;
OR
The equivalent of 4 years of professional experience in Engineering and in the manufacturing industry with Supplier based experience.
5+ years of professional experience in quality planning or quality management in a manufacturing or engineering environment (automotive preferred).
4+ years of professional experience in quality steering including the management of supplier quality either at the supplier or at the OEM.
3+ years of professional leadership experience with or without formal disciplinary responsibility.
Valid Driver s License and eligible to participate in the BMW Group MC vehicle program.
Lean Six Sigma Certified (Preferred)
5+ years of knowledge of supplier management.
3+ years of knowledge with Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
3+ years of knowledge demonstrating strong communication skills (interpersonal, presentation, and written) as well as influencing and negotiation skills.
3+ years of experience demonstrating strong problem solving and resource management skills. 2+ years of experience with BMW Quality Systems and problem-solving tools (8D, PQM). (preferred)
2+ years of supplier management and purchasing process (product and process development and series production) knowledge.
