Position Overview:
The Health and Safety Specialist implements, manages and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements. Evaluates the organization’s procedures, facilities and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions. Being a Health and Safety Specialist ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events.

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in overseeing Health and Safety responsibilities in a manufacturing setting.
Responsibilities:
- Lead monthly Safety Committee – developing agenda, employee communications, expectations, audit oversight and data analysis.
- Report and correct unsafe behaviors/acts or working conditions.
- Execute, track and review necessary inspections to ensure compliance (fire, overhead cranes, forklifts, etc).
- Participate in OSHA investigations and review regulations to ensure policies remain up-to-date for compliance.
- Review new product launch equipment and processes as well as overseeing SDS compliance and training.
- Conduct training for new hires, active personnel and contractors as necessary.
- Facilitate specific training needed for various tasks in the operation.
- Work with vendor to track, order and troubleshoot employee uniform orders.
- Work with vendor to improve and monitor onsite PPE vending system, which could include training.
- Facilitate annual fire drills and necessary inspections.
- Provide medical attention as needed for work and personal medical emergencies, coordinate first aid training for employees.
- Manage workers compensation program and compliance.
- Assist Leadership Team with tours as necessary.
- Manage hazardous waste onsite via training, disposal and compliance.
- Communicate with management, safety staff and employees on changes in safety regulations and programs.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by Director of People Operations.
