About the Role: Implementation and verification of the Magna International Global Occupational Health & Safety Compliance Programs in the United States, conducting audits and inspections, training and providing support to all facilities to assist them with compliance with regulations and internal Health and Safety policies.
The Specialist, Occupation Health & Safety - US will have communication with regulators, to assist facilities in the continuous improvement of Health and Safety related practices

Key Responsibilities
Your Responsibilities:
- Conduct Health & Safety audits and inspections focusing on recommendations related to compliance issues;
- Develop action plans from all findings of Health & Safety audits and inspections and post through the internal system;
- Provide training to employees, Supervisors and Managers regarding Health and Safety;
- Develop training material for delivery to Magna divisions;
- Track accident information data from facilities for reporting;
- Provide direction and assistance for the implementation and review of the ergonomic program requirements delivered through head office;
- Follow-up on action plan items and requested corrective actions at least quarterly;
- Maintain organized files as required in both electronic and hard copy format relating to reports;
- Provide communication, including memos on Health and Safety facility related issues;
- Handle quarterly GMR reporting based on current action item status in a timely manner with written notes on key issues;
- Collaborate with the Global Health & Safety Teams with regards to new internal standards and new systems to be implemented;
- Provide periodic reviews of Health & Safety legislation affecting Magna facilities and maintain the Internal Magna Health & Safety Checklist;
- Participate at Magna sponsored Health, Safety & Environmental Conferences.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
Who we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety or other related program;
- 5+ years progressive experience in the USA for Health and Safety activity in an industrial setting or consulting to industry.
- Sound knowledge of US Health & Safety regulations relevant to the automotive industry;
- Familiarity with OHSAS 18001/ ISO 45001 management systems;
- Positive, pro-active, energetic and professional;
- Detail oriented, self-motivated and works as a team player;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime
- Ability to travel on a regular basis (60% - 70%)
